Its up to you which you go with. Starting off in reefer wouldnt be a bad idea. I did, so did DA1. All depends on what you want to do and whats available.

Aight, third straight "pick up today, high tail it, then drop tomorrow. Not real easy when you got to secure the load too. But were getting it done. Dropped my metal building yestarday at a farm, spent a grand total of 54 minutes there. From pull in, to drive out. Picked up some metal disk things out of Piqua Ohio, dropped those this morning in High Point Nc. Got a Charlotte Pipe load now. Two drops in the AM, then hoping for a nice weekend run.

NP. Securing a load takes a basic knowledge of not only the laws, but what to use and how much to use. It can get really complicated really fast. Every load is different. Some are royal pitas, some are really easy ( like shingles). Going reefer will allow you to learn to drive, w/o worrying about the load falling off the trailer. You have to drive a flatbed different than a reefer.

Yeah, I was planning on reefer if possible for the TNT period, but wanted to do flatbed side when I upgrade. The recruiter said that due to the area I will be living in that tanker or reefer would be better to get trips close to home for scheduled home time.

    Hey Openroadreamer

Are the trucks equipped with APU's? What kind of a truck do company drivers get? What are they governed at? Thanks for the info.

Yes the company trucks have APUs on them. Company drivers get whatever is available at the time. A Pete or a Cascadia are the main ones on the flatbed side. Reefer company drivers get a lightweight truck. Havent seen many cute trucks on the flatbed side. All company trucks are goverened at 58mph on the pedal and 62 on the cruise.
