I am considering switching careers to truck driving. I have been in food service management, construction management, computer services and real estate. I like being on the road. I don't mind being away from home. I often go camping and spend that time in a tent. How much of an adjustment is it to living in your truck 6 days in a row or more? And is there an alternative to the $10 truck stop shower that is acceptable? I have to take a shower everyday or it makes me nuts.
I am probably going to pay my way through school. There is a Sage school nearby and I have read on this forum they seem to be OK.
Any other words of wisdom for a "thinking about it wanna be trucker" is appreciated.

If you do it right, you won't have to pay for showers. When you fuel up, a shower credit will go onto your rewards card at the major chain stops. The shower will be good for up to a week so you don't have to shower at that moment.

Well, compared to camping out in a tent, you have to worry about a different kind of "Bears"....

I may answer more tomorrow, gotta go to bed now for my 4 am delivery.

you need to lean not to take showers so often , try doing it every other day , and then do like every 3 days and keep working up , I now could go 3 weeks without a shower - good luck

I can go a day in between if I wash my hair and use wetnaps in the necessary places. I do this when I camp out at race tracks. But I need a hot shower at least every other day. I recently was at the Petit Lemans 10 hour race at Road Atlanta in Braselton, GA. There is a Pilot nearby off route 85 that charges $10 for a shower if you do not fuel up their. I understand a truck fueling would result in a free shower.

I shower almost every day and it's not hard to fit in if you make a priority. I'd say that 90% of them end up being free (using a credit from fueling up).
