Anyone will try automatic transmission as a new truck driver straight from school?

so were you using the brakes or were you taking a break? I'm confused, I mean if you were using the brakes and it barely slowed down, then there was a problem. If you were taking a break and it barely slowed down, well, then you were the problem, which was it?
Yes, I'm playing grammer cop. If you don't know the difference between brakes and breaks, maybe digging a ditch is right for you. -
All are different, most autoshifts have some sort of engine brake (jake or similar), regular auto seem to all have trans brakes or a combination of the two. -
Well boys and girls are we talking automatics or are we talking electronic shift. Not that it matters. Dont know if I would be hiring anyone who doesnt know how to use a stick. Then again I am still baffled as to how in the matter of a few days some newbee was able to totally screw up a transmission brake, and glaze the clutch. Any real driver knows the only time you need a clutch is to stop and start. And taking it to the floor well thats just a waste of energy. I figure all school kids should learn to drive with a stick and properly shift a truck, for proper use see above.

I'll take a one word mistake, compared to the dozen in most posts. Given the number of people who apparently don't know the difference between a break and a brake, I'm surprised they are capable of putting their clothes on everyday.......well, maybe the don't.

I am now able to shift up w/out using the clutch.
However, I am quite yet unsuccessful DOWN shifting w/out using the clutch. Of course, using the clutch is how we were taught in school so I have to get out of the whole double clutching technique to improve on floating the gears down.
BTW - this topic is now all over the place lol
