I can almost feel the love in the air...someday soon we'll have lovefests with skateboards, vans, refers and tankers...oh, and dumps...it'll be like Woodstock! But not in New York...and the parking lot will be paved...and it won't be booze and drugs passed around, it'll be tea and soda. Ahh, yes...
Truckerlove...nothing like it, so there's no cream or shot to get rid of it. :biggrin_2557:

As for myself I have the upmost respect for the flat bed folks at roehl.
I trained with a flat bedder for two weeks when I started, and I helped to secure and tarp all the loads we did. So I know its hard work and I'm
happy I was able to have that experiance.

But it's not for me, so I'm a door closer :biggrin_25514:
I also like to kid and give the flatbed folks a hard way to go and they give it right back . I enjoy the ribbing and I hope they like it in return. :biggrin_25525:
after all we are on the same team !

Let me clarify my comment above. It was directed at American Trucker specifically, not flatbedders as a whole.

I have the great respect for you skateboarders. You do a lot more work than I want for myself. I'm semi-retired and don't need all that dirty work!

I enjoyed my time as a dump driver. Hot rodding around the countryside, and doing three things at once while putting the trailer in the air. It was also fun watching the trailer rock back and forth when the load came out as long as it was someone else's. The downside was, have you ever seen what happens to a 40' frameless when half the load comes out and half doesn't? It isn't a pretty sight. There is a saying among drivers, "There are two types of trailers. Those that have been tipped and those waiting to be."

If a truck is going through a gallon of oil a week and mpgs are dropping, it would be a good idea to pull an oil sample. Sounds like it may be time for an inframe. A gallon of Lucas oil additive may prolong things for a while. As for my truck I'm looking at a new power steering pump in the near future and possibly a clutch. Somewhere along the way I've gotten some bad fuel and now I'm battling algae in the fuel system. Been using BioMedic and Howe's conditioner to try and get the problem straightened out, worst case is have the tanks drained and steam cleaned. Aah the joys of ownership. Guess I should have posted this under the lease/purchase thread. Still I don't like the set up of the Prostars. The small sleeper, the battery only apu, and the time limit on the inverter. The mpgs are good, but I'm not sure that that is enough to get a different truck. I'm averaging around 6.4, so another truck would have to make a significant jump to make it worth thinking about. By the way, that 6.4 is with no modifications. Once the truck is in my name I can look at changes in the muffler, air filter, add a boost gauge, air tabs just to start to push the mileage higher.

I should probably explain how a boost gauge helps with fuel economy. If you can keep boost low while accelerating you keep fuel usage down. Also it gives you a measurable indicator if you are losing power. It's only about $200 even as an after market item, but used properly will save that in a month or two in fuel savings. I have no idea why Roehl doesn't have them on their trucks and teach drivers how to use it. RPMs and top gear aren't the whole story. The simple fact is that 1500 with half a pedal will use less fuel than 1200 and the pedal on the floor. A boost gauge teaches you to do more with less.

Thats why they say use the cruise at 58mph, it doesnt have any boost then.

Well I was at the ta in Gary on i80 exit 6. Saw a roehl company driver driving a t2000 this morning. I thought it was a t660 at first till i saw the front end with the more Aero hood.

Also got some good news today, ill be heading to marshfield tomorrow to get my new truck. Dispatcher told me an hour ago I'm getting through there cuz my trucks been sold. I'm sitting at 724,6xx miles. I guess its about time. Although there are other guys here who desperately need new trucks.

On a side note I saw a company truck, flat bed prostar with an apu. Are they putting Apu's on the trucks now? It had a 4 digit truck number, unless its an o/o and their now getting 4 digit numbers instead of 3? Anyone know about it, tree fork?
