That's good, now within 90 days after your employment your employer must test you in accordance with the 49 CFR. Your employer must keep a record of this and the testing should be job specific.

You bet. We are actually trained and tested every 90 days in a safety meeting we have quarterly.

As long as it covers the requirements of 49 CFR your company is set.

Now, in addition to the HAZMAT endorsement , with fingerprinting , backround investigation , letter from the TSA prior to endorsement addition to CDL , we were required to obtain A TWIC card. Transportation Workers Identification Credential , for unescorted access to port facilities etc. A process very similar to the HAZMAT protocol. Cost was @ $130.00 if ID was not made integral with the CDL.

Lets be clear here: His CARRIER required the TWIC for access to water facilities. It is NOT a requirement to obtain a tanker or hazmat end.

And GH, my carrier doesn't offer a 90 day nothing....how would this be caught and whom is financially responsible for the non compliance?
    The carrier?

There are several companies not at ports that ask for TWIC(Totaly Worthless Identification Card):biggrin_2559:I had to get one at my last job working on the rivers. When they were mandated there were no card readers and most places still asked for another form of ID.Of course that is all part of Homeland Stupidity.:biggrin_25510:
