Heading For Little Rock! Maverick

It may be a while before I get to that point.

Ok...Almost done with the Training Building for a while. I watched the all the last videos today and took my 5 mile drive on the simulator. Tomorrow morning I get turned over to Operations. I've already let some of them know that I need a couple of days off. I've been working 10 days in a row now because I went directly from Sand into Load Securement.

When I got home this evening I began trying to get all the stuff together I hoped I would never need again and put it in my pick up. As soon as I get my truck I'll try to find a place for it all and get that out of the way so when I do go out I'm not rushing. I'm bound to forget something.

My truck # is 12387 and Felecia Young is my Fleet Manager.

I got most of my stuff put in the truck and my CB mounted today. I forgot to have them build a ladder rack for me. I'll do that next week.

I'm taking off until Monday to try to get things caught up here at home but I think I'm just going to rest today. I still need to get a couple of padlocks to put on my tarp boxes. I know they sell them in the company store but I can probably get them cheaper at WalMart or Lowes.

 

What are some typical reasons people fail the physical? (just out of curiosity)

 

For you 4 nights at home is a good thing.

A fellow, former Sand driver and friend of mine is broke down at Freightliner in Troy, Il. He's in 12375 with transmission problems. It had over 1000 miles on it when he got it yesterday. That seems to be fairly common with the Cascadias. I'm hoping they find a cure for it before mine gets it.

As Sand drivers we weren't allowed to have much facial hair because of having to wear respirators. Now it appears most of us have re-discovered goatees and mustaches.

 

Not being able to climb on top of Mt. Maverick is common. Past or present medical conditions often that the recruit knows nothing about, high blood pressure. The physical is extremely thorough. At Maverick, you have to prove you're able to do the job. The physical weeds out those that can't.

 

I know...I didn't mean it to sound like I was depressed about my situation because I'm not. I'm somewhat looking forward to it. I've done it long enough to know anytime a driver can get a few extra days at home is HUGE. Enjoy your long weekend. I know I'm going to enjoy mine.
