Later dude that was a great post. I enjoyed tremendously and LMAO. :biggrin_2559:

After shock, wow, love reading your posts. How do you do it??? The writing is it natural or do you spend hours on your posts? Informative! :biggrin_25514:

I don't know how to post with the quotes (as After shock does) so I hope this comes out understandable. :biggrin_2556:

Powell paralto posted on 5-10-2010. BS about OTR Lifestyle. OTR lifestyle doesn't always "tend to attract persons with dubious psychological state", nor does it cause them to "lose their minds". And I don't believe OTR drivers, in general, want to fight over "trivial slights". Oh yeah, comments on "people who smoke are not trustworthy". Gotta say folks, this boy is REALLY smart!!!

I trained at Werner. I believe Later dude has a point. Yeah, great writing but he does have it correct. There are some drivers that are nasty, NASTY, and just plain NAAASSTTTYY! I left a job before I even got my truck because it was so nasty and they wanted me to clean it. I didn't fall off a turnip truck and THAT wasn't going to happen. I am a clean person and I just couldn't bring myself to start out in a new job doing that. NO darn way. I opened the door and the trash started falling out. Yuck! :biggrin_25521::biggrin_25513:

So, my training at Werner was ok. Had 3 trainers. First was dedicated in Fla. Second stayed 3 days then told Werner to get me to a terminal and off the truck or else I was gone. I was off truck next day and spent a week waiting on another and going thru bs about the 2nd guy. Hope I got his butt fired or whatever. Pretty sure he didn't train again. :biggrin_25513:

Third was a charm, got my out west training. Never been out past Smokey mtns so this was a big one for me. I insisted before I did it on my own. I spent more time training than most because I wanted to be sure I was able to. Left Werner and did great.

I drove solo OTR for 3 years, 48 states and loved every minute of it. Had to go home for emergency family stuff. I missed everyday off road. Hmmm, That might put me in the line for being "a person with dubious state" and "lost my darn mind". :biggrin_2556::biggrin_25526: Hmmm, yeah I can see After shocks comments now. LOL Oh and darn it I smoke too. Sheesh guess I ain't trustworthy so those loads of electronics, and the high dollar stuff shouldn't be in my hands no way Jose.:biggrin_2555:

I happen to love solo OTR. If it means I have gypsy blood (might), does that mean I am psychotic (maybe uuummm ask After shock he'd probably know more than me), or does it mean I "lost my mind" (yeah I think I left it in northern New Mexico...see below). Anyway, I like being alone. I like doing my own thing with out someone looking over my shoulder all the time. And I am good at what I do. I learn something new everyday. When I stop learning I'm gone. Anytime someone says they know it all, well that just scares me and I sure don't want them driving near me. The day you think you know it all please get out of the truck. Newbies PLEASE pay attention. THE day you KNOW IT ALL get off the truck.

Driving is a "mind set" not necessarily a "life style". You either want to drive a truck or you don't. If you don't, then leave it. You are dangerous to everyone if you don't want to be here. Driving is one heck of a lonely life. If a person is not comfortable being alone, no tv, no extras then don't do it.

I was at a picnic stop area in north New Mexico one night. No lights or civilization for probably 100's of miles. It was so quiet and dark I couldn't believe it. The stars were absolutely beautiful and the only thing I could hear were wolves or coyotes howling. The quiet peacefulness about that night was one I will never forget and will cherish always. You would have to be there to experience it. This is in part a reason I like what I do.

Would I do this again? Oh Yeah, in a heartbeat.
    Be safe everyone.:biggrin_25525:

ThanX for mentioning that Sundance. :salute:
I can't tell how I'm comin' across unless someone informs me, one way or the other.
I love writin' 'em so it pleases me to know that someone out thar appreciates readin' 'em.
One keystroke at a time, --- once I figure out what I wanna say.
    That can take awhile.
Prior to the purchase of my first computer, --- 'bout 12 years ago, --- writing bored me.
While attending school, essay assignments were dreaded and put off 'till the last minute, then rushed to complete. Fast forward to the year 2000, and my introduction to computers. I planned to use a computer for many things, but writing wasn't one of them. As it turned out, what I planned to use a computer for, --- I don't. What I didn't plan on usin' 'em for, I do.
    Go figure.
    I never saw that comin'.

Sometimes I can't type fast enough to keep up with what I'm thinkin' and can't slow the flow of thoughts.
Other times I know that I want to write something, but not sure what, exactly. I've learned to put off any attempts to wing my way through just to git-er-dun though. Instead, I'll put off tryin' to come up with the right words, --- sometimes for days, --- while I continue thinkin' 'bout the subject I want to address. When the time is right, what I finally write seems to come naturally. On occasion, after days of thinkin' and writin', I'm not satisfied with my results, and I abort the mission, --- at least for the time being.
So I reckon sometimes spendin' hours on my posts comes naturally? :smt102:smt017

Whatever, --- I credit/blame my mother for it, --- depending on how I feel at the time.
When I read posts like yours, I think "credit".
    :toothy5:
When I read posts that criticize my writing, I might be tempted to "blame" my mom, --- for being a school teacher 24/7/365.
    ThanX mom.
:biggrin_25514: <---- I hijacked your bowing smiley Sundance. Hope you don't mind
    You were correct. :smt112
    Sometimes they are.
Other times my posts are 100% pure, unadulterated, tongue-in-cheek, bovine excrement. But with a little practice, most readers can differentiate betwixt the two. Although, there are times when even I'm unsure, --- which is rough if asked to explain.
However, I knew the task was dangerous when I accepted the challenge.

In spite of your handicap you're comin' through loud and clear.
As for postin' with quotes, if I didn't offer to show you how to do that, what kind of a son-of-a-teacher would I be? :biggrin_2558:

By the way Sundance, I thoroughly enjoyed your entire post, --- although I omitted most of it in the interest of band width conservation. We seem to share a mutual fondness for Big truck truckin'. What many who drive a Big truck find unattractive, I see beauty.
Then again, and I'll admit, I just ain't right, ---
and certainly not "normal" by any stretch of even an over-active imagination.
    Thank gawd.

My advice for anyone thinkin' that they'll be able to just walk away from Big truck truck drivin' and never look back, is,
    look again.
Once roamin' the highways and byways gets into y'all's blood, chances are good it'll be there to stay, --- forever.
    If not longer.
    It's twue!
    It's twue!
    --- :yes2557: ---

After Shock, thank you. :biggrin_25514: Glad you enjoyed my post. :biggrin_1square4: Again, I have to say you had me chuckling! :biggrin_2559: The jump from informative to humorous ….. I just love it! LOL Yes, I do learn from your posts and do get a kick outta the funny ones. Gotta laugh occasionally or you cry hummm? I am tired of the cryin’.

Computers are great things and they are a curse, big time. I used to program and build the darn things. I actually hate em. Started using the ‘puter again to get myself back out on the road. Searching info and all. Learned a bit since I first started out.

Tongue-in-cheek excrement huh? :biggrin_25526: LOL Yup, guess you do sometimes. Still, funny as anything though. Sometimes even at 100% they are funny and I laugh until I can’t stand it. My sister came in and asked what I was laughing at earlier. Had to let her read it and she laughed also.

Oh yeah, you will have to show or teach me the posting thingy, it’s cool. Yeah, I hear you laughing too. :biggrin_25522:

Hope the “smart guy” doesn’t read this but, yeah I think truck drivers that love their job are somewhere in the psycho range. Duh! We just really don’t know it LOL. :mconfused:  :smt119

Keep it up; I need those laughs to get me thru until I get back on a truck (which should be in the next couple weeks). YipPPEEEE! :Trailer:

Oh my goodness! I found the other faces! I could really have fun with this. :biggrin_255::mlaugh::mcool: Just can't find a big, ugly hairy guy. :biggrin_25511:

I agree with Chief. Is it boogers? or bugers? Either way its making me hungry. I always like to follow that 500 hundred pound non-shower takin driver through the buffet at the flyin hook. He usually picks his rear (then smellin his finger), nose and ears before grabbin by hand all the chicken he can fit on his plate. I'm gettin hungry!!! Welcome to the truckin life. How do those 500 pounders pass the physical anyways?

Whoops!!! No offense intended to anyone. If so I here-by apologize. I hope I didn't break the forum rules on my first day. My attempt at humor. Mutual respect from a fellow driver.

Whats does not kill you can only make you stronger Sir !!!

As a qualified OTR truck driver your exposed to ALL KINDS OF GERMS. Just wash your hands before you eat and when ever you use the restroom, take a shower at least 5 times in a 8 day period. And you can follow (500 hundred pound non-shower taking driver) thru the buffet all day and not have to worry about germs.
