There is nothing illegal about. Immoral yes, illegal no. Look at the bright side. You could of been a 1000 miles from home. There are drivers that deal with that all the time.

This is yet another reason why anyone starting out needs 'mad money'.
You need to figure what it would cost to get home from ANY point in the USA and take that cash with you (or credit card).

Most people get into trucking with less than zero money and then wonder how to get home if/when it goes to crap...
It's not the companies responsibility to get you home...
