What I don't hear anything about on any of these threads is how the companies rip off every driver. When you are traveling across a 70 mph state and you are governed at 62 mph you are getting ripped off 8 miles for every hour. Drivers need to stand up and demand to be compensated. I know they say for fuel and insurance savings, but they are doing it on the back of you, "the driver."

A few things,
1. When you work for someone else you agree to work at the pace they set.
2. No one is holding a gun to your head to drive said castrated rig.
3. Boss makes the decisions within reasonable safe terms.
4. If you do not like it, find another job.Blackadder47, U2Exit, Jackofalltrades1977 and 18 others Thank this. -
I agree you can find another job. It's your choice. It doesn't mean they aren't ripping people off.

Just as a point for argument the weekly fuel cost difference between a truck doing 62 and one doing 70mph is about $330 a week. So yes they make you go slow to save money. Yes they make a profit off it. But I don't know many companies out there that wouldn't like to make an extra $330 s week per employee. And honestly anyone not smart enough to see that would be best if they stayed a company driver because they will never survive with their own truck.
Everett Thanks this. -
As a o/o i go 58mph. theres honestly no reason to go any faster.
scottied67, FLATBED and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
I'd like to meet the driver who can prove to me that the difference between driving 62 mph and 70 mph is the difference between putting 620 miles that day and 700 miles that day.

Some of us steal the money back by driving 62 and logging 70.
