I figured out that going with Prime would be a lot better than dropping $4k on a local school. Not that I have that kind of cash sitting around...

I would love to train in the winter but my income disapears at the end of this school year for three months, so like it or not, HERE I COME!

Maybe I'll start with adult diapers until I get the nack of snow/ice driving. :biggrin_2555:

OR you can stay on with a trainer over winter. Prime will continue the $600/week pay for 80,000 miles. Least might get you through part of the winter.

    Traveler51 Thanks this.

Yes you will regret it, the drivers do not benefit from driving a truck anymore; only the companies do.

Drivers have so many people now that depend on them so they can get get paid, this is how companies cut/down on their payrolls, they run the crap out of you and take extreme advantage of the drivers.

They will talk good to you to get you in the seat and away from home, I wouldn't recommend trucking to anyone today unless it's a company that you can retire from with a pension like, Wal*Mart, Yellow Freight, UPS, ABF, Gordon Foods, Fed/Ex, Old Dominion, R&F, Schwan's, Big-E Estes, Saia, South East Motor Freight, Companies like these the driver benefits from his hard work; a company like Crime I mean Prime they only benefit not the drivers!

I know someone who did it. She stayed with her trainer for the full 80,000 miles. Got her through Jan. She was able to get some winter driving experience before she went solo.

Can you say "TROLL" lol, thanks for the input guys. Any place you work for nowadays is gonna pork you it seems, as long as you take it with a smile and say "please sir may I have another" It's no biggy. There is no way in hell I'm gonna be able to support my family comfortably and have my wife be able to go to nursing school full time on 10.00 an hour, and if you think it's possible your high.

True there are better companies to drive for Wallyworld and UPS being a few that really take care of their drivers but they are not gonna hire someone with no experience let alone no CDL. Like I mentioned before I plan on satisfying the required year agreement and getting something local, time apart from my kiddies and my wife will be hard but it is something I NEED to do to better our lives.

My father told me horror stories about Donner Pass.. I'm looking forward to soloing it in the winter as much as I'm looking forward to NYC. :(

Prime does care about their drivers... NYC sucks!! Id rather go over Donners... Did it once. Not snow covered, but wet. Had 2 23,000# pound coils on. Id still rather have Donners. Long as I dont have to cross into Cali. (Im well aware of the fact that Donners goes into Cali)
