All Carriers Steal from their Drivers

Regarding the OP.

I suppose if your boss gives you anything but a top HP truck he is also robbing you.
The logic is that you will also not be able to maintain top speed as much in a lower powered truck and he/she is thus robbing you of possible miles.

Trucks under 700hp should be illegal as should speed governors.
Someone should inform Swift they are doing it all wrong.

I am going to back down....

I was not meaning this to be directed at you in anyway shape or form.

It was a general statement that people seem to see it as appropriate to work at a reduced amount (IE 55-58).

I am sorry if you took it that way.

 

You have put yourself in a position to take longer to get someplace. So while you put in the same amount of physical time today, you need another 1/2 hour tomorrow if you had driven the set speed today.

So tomorrow you do it again and now you are 1 hour behind where you should have been.

Day 1 (1/2 hour) + day 2 (1/2 hour) = 1 hour.

at the end of the week it's 2 1/2 hours. In two weeks that' 5 hours and a month that's 1 day.

In a year, that 12 days.

 

Then I apologize too. I don't see it as appropriate, I just work less if im able too is all. I know some guys run tons of miles a week but their constantly moving. I'm just saying i like to take it easy, and the company allows us too.

BUT, if i was an o/o I would do exactly what you described. Split logging and going the extra mile.

I compensate my drivers with a bonus for the job they do as well as $ they save by watching their speed.


But since ( according to OP ) maybe I should be stealing the gas out of their cars when they are out on the road or better yet renting their cars out for additional INCOME.

I can't justify running 72-75. No way no how.

but I can't justify running 58-60 either.

That window of 62 to 67 seems to be a "happy medium".... Leaning to the highside though.

You mean I've been doing it wrong? I've always had to pull over and wait for the darn thing to catch up.....to me.

 

I generally carry mine in the cab though.

 

Well if you are a company driver for an OTR company, I'm going to guess not enough.
