Thanks. I've had the TWIC for about 2 years now, and have passed the tanker, doubles / triples and hazmat written tests, just waiting for graduation from CDL school in 3 weeks.

Excellent. Get some experience then come over to one of the hazmat specialty companies where you'll make some real money and work less. Just because some companies don't pay much for haz, that doesn't mean that there isn't money to be made elsewhere.

Does the DMV send you a notice when your Hazmat is about to expire? Got my endorsement a year ago and I have to renew every 2, correct?

NC doesn't. Gotta keep up with it. It should be good for 5 years. The expiration date of my hazmat is listed with the expiration date in the restrictions section.
If you use your hazmat to get the reduced TWIC fee, the TWIC expired the same day as your endorsement.Dewey120 Thanks this. -
Double checked on the California DMV website and its every 5 years to renew my hazmat. Expires the same time as my TWIC since I will have to pay for another background check.

In LA the Hazmat background check needs to be done before you renew your CDL.You also have to retake the Hazmat test when you renew.I've had my TWIC (Totally Worthless Identification Card)for 3.5 years and now have all endorsements and a Passport so I'm not limiting myself.
