Training Adventures with Sage in Cheyenne, WY

I have been remiss in my posting duties! I apologize!

So, without further adieu: the (final?) Sage Report!

I completed my last drives on Saturday (4/14)! Went in this morning to pick up a check from them (to pay for my license renewal), then spent a joyless 2 hours at the DMV (word to the wise: NEVER go there on a Monday if you can help it!), then back to Sage to pick up my certificates! (On a side -- toot my own horn -- note, I was told I had the highest average score they had seen yet!) Anyway....

Overall, I would recommend Sage Technical Services in Cheyenne to anyone (someone who's never seen the inside of a big truck before, OR someone who simply needs a refresher course). They have an outstanding curriculum, the ladies in the front office are very helpful with any problems you might have (from getting you the right paperwork to getting you lists of prospective employers), and the instructors are frikkin top-notch (in classroom studies, hands-on training, AND for suggestions on where to check for employment).

In closing, I want to thank my lovely wife, my parents, and -- oh wait, wrong speech. Sorry!

Seriously tho, thanks to Jynxx, Hanz, and everyone else who has helped answer questions I've had!
I'll be sure and keep yall updated as my job search comes along!

 

Hey Jynxx, you know anything about Dooley, or any other local fuel carriers here?

I went in and got an app from Dooley today -- talked to Steve (the 'hiring guy'), he told me that he just found out yesterday that he's gonna need another driver. (I turn in my app tomorrow.) Completed an online app for Groendyke this afternoon.. it looks like (from their website, anyway) they take care of their drivers.
I'll definitely look into Solar, as well as the P/FJ. I heard Flying J had an ad on Craigslist recently, but I didn't see it myself. I might just call them up and find out for myself!
Btw, what is the 'normal' pay range for hauling fuel? I would think a bit higher than some other hazmat stuff -- am I wrong?

 

Gemini keeps popping up on indeed.com though that their hiring out of Greeley, CO? Or are you actually out of Cheyenne?

 

Turned in my app at Dooley (Steve wasn't there), called Groendyke (they haven't processed my app yet), going to fill out the app for Solar (as soon as I get back from picking up kids from school), and checked on jobs with Pilot/Flying J (no openings around here, per their website, but I might try calling them directly).
One thing I had not thought of until I saw it on the Hook's website -- DEF! Looks like Flying J has a fleet dedicated to hauling DEF, and nothing else. I keep forgetting about DEF (and it's REALLY gonna throw me for a loop if I get into a new truck that requires it!), but with it being required for 2012 diesels, it seems more and more of it will need transported.
Jynxx or Hanz, do you guys haul it at all? Or do you have a separate 'fleet' assigned to hauling it, like Pilot/Flying J does?
