I am tired of seeing all these threads about will i pass a drug test if i..... So i thought id make it easy for those who might have concerns.

    1. Drugs are not welcome in this field. You WILL BE tested. Pre-employment, random, for cause, post accident. It will be a urine test. Some companies might do a hair test too.

    2. If you have any reason why you might not pass a test, at any time while employed as a trucker, THIS IS NOT THE FIELD FOR YOU.

    3. Just because it prescribed doesnt mean you can use it. DOT has a list (which i will search for) of drugs that CANNOT be used while in a safety sensitive position. Any concerns you should talk with your Dr.

    4. If your mom, dad, brother, sister, cousin, girlfriend, best friend, ect. use around you and you think it might cause you to fail, get away from them.

I am not trying to debate with anyone about the legalities or moralities of drugs. This is how the business is. Dont like it, dont drive a truck. There is no way around it.

So many go on forums asking 1 question, what tests do they give?If they have to ask then don't bother trucking because you'll fail the test.My company gives 2 tests 1 done right their at the company and the other one done at the doctors office.

It's pretty sad that some people aren't even motivated enough in life to give up the high school crap and get real jobs.

I am all for the legalization of all drugs, as I do not feel the government has the right to tell us what we can and cannot put into our bodies......But, the fact is, most drugs are illegal.

Is it really worth risking a job or job opportunity over? Some people really need to grow up.

Your job is your livelihood. I wouldn't want to live in fear of whether I'll be fired tomorrow or not. If using drugs is so important and the only way one knows how to have fun, then find a job that doesn't drug test. Plain and simple.

... But none of the posters you're speaking of have EVER -knowingly- did amphetamines or reefer, they were all innocent bystanders who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and inadvertently ended up ingesting said drugs :biggrin_25524:

At least that's the story that's always fed to the safety person who fired them. The number of "innocent drug users" is truly mind-blowing.

I think it is rather sad anymore....
I am 21, I hit a joint once when I was 14. I STILL don't get it. What the hell was so funny about the word 'Alaska' that had everyone busting up laughing while I sat there waiting for the joke to get funny?
Even if drugs did become legal, I like having a clear mind and being able to focus on whatever I am doing. I just think it is quite depressing that this is what society is coming to.
