No company would do it based on liability reasons.

You guys don't get it do you? If you make everyone run the same piece of equipment, what kid of show will that get you? If you want that, go play at a truck rodeo.

Get a KW and Pete from PacLease, a Freightliner and Volvo from Penske or Ryder. All in different colors.

All trucks should haul the same Oversized/permited loads and have scheduled truck stops along the ways with roadblocks and or shortcuts. Kinda like amazing race but with trucking would be interesting.

That's what it's going to be according to the OP. He mentioned an obstacle course and a road closure.

I would cheat and pull out my bag of tricks! :biggrin_2559:

Great, and free, advertising for companies though.

So...I'm not seeing anything here that would be different from an average week for a real truck driver.

$5,000, or even $35,000 is not going to change anybody's life. That's one.

Backing through an obstacle course? Please. Check some of the areas we park and dock on a daily basis. Not to mention the skateboarders delivering to construction zones. Oh yeah, "skateboarders" refers to flatbed haulers who are using a regular flatbed trailer, as opposed to a stepdeck, dropdeck, or lowboy trailer.

Either this is a race, or it is not. If it is, I don't care if it's on a closed course or not, it's ###### dangerous. These are not race vehicles, they are working tractors. They are not designed to go fast, they are designed to pull heavy loads. Pick!

7 legs in 15 days works out to about 2.14etc. days per leg. Factoring in all the production BS that goes into any TV production, we're looking at about 1,000 miles per leg. $5,000 for a 1,000 mile trip? $5 per mile? What are you hauling, radioactive waste and heavily armed mutants?

Just another pipedream, thought up by another desk jockey yahoo who thinks trucking is easy, and drivers are dumb. No thanks.:biggrin_25513:

I would be interested in doing this, but I am no longer an Owner Operator. I brought it up to my buddy who is and asked if I got chosen could I use his truck. He said no. He makes $5000 a week being home every day (before expenses). So it wouldn't be profitable for him to take his truck off the road for a non guarantee of his expenses.

If you opened this up to ALL drivers and provided the equipment, you would truly get the best drivers to choose from. As it stands you won't, because since I am the best driver ever, I can't participate.

I'm not sure where you got that from but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I won't argue with anyone here. But I want to say that we're looking to shine a positive and exciting light on the industry. I've pulled the following from a similar competition that takes place for truckers around the globe. Read below and think more along these lines:

"We set up the **** Driver Competitions to shine a spotlight on the drivers, celebrating their skills and highlighting their valuable contribution to society," says J****n. "In so doing, we also seek to elevate drivers' status and attract more young people into the profession."

Taking part in the competition gives drivers more than just an unforgettable experience. Not only is it an invaluable opportunity to improve driving skills, increase road safety awareness and energy efficiency, it's also a great chance to meet other drivers and become part of the global truck driver community. For those who have the winning combination of exceptional driving skills, stamina, professional pride and a positive attitude, there is also the chance to become a champion.

Anyhow, again I'm just trying to get the word out to the truckers that ARE interested. If you're not interested that's ok too. But since I've already received seven submissions from people off of this forum, there are at least some people who want to throw their hats in the ring.
