Well, Scary decision but I decided to go with Prime. It was tough between the the two choices. Good luck Harley Rat.

Hey yall,
Glad to see such an informative thread. Read all the way to page 50 or so.
I put my app into FFE bout 3 weeks ago. Got a call back literally 18 hours later.
Situation being I intended to go to the main campus of my college (Kent state) but got declined for my student loans (needed about double what I'm getting now to live in the dorms and such.)
I've always had the traveling bug, and I've always wanted to try trucking.
Around a year ago I got a chance to do a ride along with a family friend and loved every singly moment of it. Seeing so much, meeting so many people and going so many place.
So here's the game plan, finish this current semester in college, ship out for Texas in the second week of May (hopefully the first week of May but who can say.)
Put in my two weeks of training in, and then 6 weeks. Though I'm sure it will take longer than that.
After I get into my own truck I can drive for about another month- then start my next semester (luckily, kent state offers a good portion of my degrees online; but I dislike the idea of doing the entire degree online.)
So, I'm not planning on it being easy either. I'm taking it quite seriously. I've printed out and had my CDL manuel bound. I've killed two highlighters taking notes in it already.
Beyond that, I was wondering if I could reserve you as my trainer, spat.
Kidding.
More seriously what's the deal with the Texas DPS and students from out of states?
Thanks-
Cab. -
well i gave my two week notice at work and was all set to go to FFE on the 23rd of april, when my boss came up to me and asked what would it take for me to stay i simply replied around 16 dollars an hour instead of 13 an hour never thinking she would do it. about an hour later it was done she came up to me showing me the change from 13 to 16 and just got my first check at the new pay raise oh yeah. Well needless to say i had to call sandy and tell her i wasn't coming i felt bad not going but this gives me the chance to stay home with my two daughters 5 and 2 years old and be able to bring home decent money. i will tell anyone who wants to drive to go to ffe even though i didn't go i felt the hard work and personnel attention my recruiter sandy gave as far as talking to me and giving advice goes along way. thank you to rednecktigger and spat for all the help as well. i will still check in to keep up to date. if things dont work out here sandy said to give her a call and ffe will be the first place i call. thanks again to everyone.
