well, most of them know more than basics by the time i'm through with them, but that's because it's as intense as i can make it, every waking hour i have them.
but we'll typically only have three dispatches. it's hard to fit trip planning, navigation, inspections, driving skills, backing skills, customer service, legalizing, WLL, steel tubing, bar, strap/angles/channel, steel sheet, steel plate, slinkies, coils, dressed lumber, rough lumber, wheeled vehicles, farm equipment, palleted loads, canada, relays, oversize/overweight, layover, detention, safety, and all the rest into three dispatches.
Is Roehl ever going to get any new equipment?

If they put a camera in my truck or give me a new truck with cameras, I'll be looking for a new job. I'm sorry, but it just tells me that they don't trust me. If they can't show me simple trust and respect, I'll find somebody who will.
Treefork and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
They say its so that when you have a critical event its to show what happened.
The example i was given was that if a car cuts in front of you and hits their brakes, and you slam on yours but end up hitting them anyway, the camera would record it. Its supposed to show that you would be found not guilty and would not receive a citation for it.
BUT
Some guys have said that even if that happens, and they have video of what the 4-wheeler did, your still a professional driver and should have been able to stop. so really, i think its a way for companies to see what their drivers are doing while driving. I believe its BS and shouldnt be used. I am one of those paranoid people. I dont do anything unsafe on the road while driving, but i still dont feel comfortable with having a camera on me. the camera made me more nervous, it hindered rather than helped me stay focused.
I agree, if they force me to swap with the veteran driver who wants an older truck i will be seeking other employment. -

This is just one of the many reasons I went o/o. I get to decide what my ride is and what it's equiped with.

I agree with all of you a 100%. I do however believe it should only be put on drivers who have constantly had accidents. Either that or let them go. But putting them in trucks all willy nilly is kinda counter productive. I mean how much do these things cost to buy and maintain? Shouldn't that money be put towards training mechanics, new equipment, oh heaven forbid putting it towards drivers pay. We make enough as is........
Preacher as much as I would like to go O/O i know I would mess up. I'm very strict on my breaks but if I have the option to take a day off whenever I want well then I'd spend to much time at the house and less on the road so I couldn't make enough to support it.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
That's what i believe. Put it in the trucks that have problematic drivers. Not everyone.
