Oh come on Hammer, me saying saying that one truck converts energy to motion more efficiently than another is not even remotely similar let alone exactly the same as saying the energy contained in diesel varies by up to 50%.
Event when you take snips out of context and try and spin what was posted , the statements are still so blatantly different a blind man with a stick could feel it.
But hey lets not let the truth stand in the way your debate .That may have been the case some years back.
Both Mercedes and Scania sell engines that are near 50% efficient.
The Scania straight six 470hp with its compound turbo is 56% efficient.
The second turbo is not for forced induction but drives the fly wheel via a coupling.
Thus not increasing combustion efficiency but increasing the transfer of the heat generated in the combustion process (Chemical to thermal) in to kinetic (Mechanical) energy.
When quoting efficiency if you want to limit it to combustion efficiency that is fine but that is not nearly the whole story regarding efficiency.
Combustion efficiency only related to how efficiently the diesel is converted to heat and does not cover how efficiently that heat is converted to kinetic energy.
From a truckers point mpg is what counts so how efficiently the engine now converts the thermal energy to kinetic energy is also very important.
Look you are the one not me that keeps limiting this to combustion efficiency.I'm talking about mpg of which combustion efficiency is but one factor.I know the thread is about the ecotaz system that supposedly up the combustion but that was not the focal point of my post. This is a point in case.
Lets look at pumping loses.
Where does an engine get the energy required to pump?
From the fuel used.
Lower the pumping loses and the truck uses less fuel to achieve the same result.
A more efficient truck , maybe not more efficient combustion buy better mpg.
A holistic view on efficiency with respect to mpg.All I have said is that on an efficient truck the increase in mpg would be a lower in % terms and thus harder to pick up than on an inefficient truck.
This is just common sense , is it not?.Both Ben and Dice have contradicted themselves in that they have both agreed that the unit must be run for a period to get a proper result.
Yet they both seem premature and belligerent in their exchanges..This should be interesting.

Several starting with Turbo3000d Vada, Hydrogen Generator that I believe cost me cracked head and an in frame, Xtreme Fuel Treatment dealer sent me months worth for free to test that I posted results on net and I am sure there is a list of all the typical fuel and oil additives from Lucas to MotorKote that were not worth the cost of product.
There has been items like the Airtabs that I believe they add fuel mileage too small to measure, but the crosswind stability and keeping mirrors clean are well worth it. The same with Deflector Wheel Covers like Schneider runs when I had duals and now the Real Wheels Covers are too small to measure the gain, but I love the stainless steel look.
Never tried "Fuel Magic" or "Magic Plus" fuel additives, just use the cheap Wal-mart 2 cycle oil for lubricity purposes on my older diesel motor that was built for regular diesel before they removed the sulfur from it and i believe the fuel mileage gain might be a wash on the cost of using it at $12 per gallon. My wife loves buying this at Wal-Mart for me because a few of her items fall in the buggy to get written off as fuel additive....LOL
As far as going from duals to Super Singles, I had 11R22.5 Bridgestone M720s that are a great tire if not one of the best dual tires for fuel mileage that about wore out that was at their peak of fuel effiency and I went with the Michelin 455/55R22.5 X-One XDA Energy that may have been a mistake going with the larger one that is harder to find on the road than the 445/50R22.5 that is smaller and lighter, but i wanted them because the load rating was higher that would allow 22,000 lbs per axle instead of 20,400 lbs. Any way when I switched from wore I duals to brand new super singles last November the fuel mileage did not change and can only get better that should pay for themselves over the tread life of the tire since the fuel mileage gets better as the tire wears down. The truck did not lose but around 240 lbs switching due to the larger tire size and new rubber for wore out rubber.
The Bridgestone were great tires and the so are the Michelins and I would do it all over again. I highly recommend tire pressure/temp sensors on them because I saved one of mine with a valve stem leak I caught very early.
A temp gun is great tool to have on a truck and is probably the most used tool on my truck. You can very quickly find slack or hot trailer tires with just a quick walk around after a run to know the hot tire is more than likely needing air. Save alot on tire problems and blow outs using this with pulling so many different trailers in my operation.
Thank you and that is what websites like this are all about is to save us all money and share useful information. Lot's of great posters here with alot of good information and I know we will all never agree on everything because the world would be very boring if we did....LOLECOTAZ Thanks this. -
Dice1,
have you tried to use additives like Lucas Upper cylinder lube w/ injector cleaner?Attached Files:

EVERYTHING I have ever tested that gives at least a 2/10ths mpg gain of more can felt immediately when driven on the first trip by the driver (me) before the first drop of fuel is measured. When I first changed out my exhaust manifold and turbocharger for the PP ported and polished manifold with the larger turbocharger, I knew right out the first day it was going to improve my fuel mileage that ended up being around a 6/10ths mpg jump in fuel mileage gained. When I went to the Fleet Air Filter that alot on here says did not help their truck and is obvious to why due to underhood air cleaners on aero trucks were designed for 450 hp and less motors and not one like mine that has Walker Mufflers, the PP manifold/turbo, PP Power box that improved more power with better exhaust flow that the small paper filter in the small tight filter box was restricting the air going in real bad. The Fleet Air filter removed the restriction and allowed around 3/10ths better mpg that might not be so much from the air filter directly as much as it was removing a restriction to allow the motor/turbo and exhaust to work better and more efficiently. Now brings me to MicroBlue that alot are skeptical about just replacing wheel bearings with the proper installation would net better fuel mileage without MicroBlue, they are right that it will, but MicroBlue makes it even better and the improvements with the rear ends and tranny MicroBlued were all felt by me before I even added fuel to truck. All the MicroBlue adds have gained me around 1.7 mpg to my truck and yes I know they cost time and money to do, but I just wanted to see just how much better I can make my truck in fuel economy.
I am not thru yet that is obvious by giving the EcoTaz a shot like I have done everything else and it is probably more intense testing than I have ever done with pictures and details, but I knew Ben was going to be worse than the Xtreme Fuel Treatment people were when the product started not showing a gain on my truck.
I still have a few other things to do to my truck to get my dedicated runs to 10+ mpg after I get finished with the test hopefully by July or sooner.
After next week's last 2 dedicated runs for April, I want to compare only those to previous months that should give a real clear picture to if there is enough gain/loss to make any valid claims.Last edited: Apr 21, 2012
king Q Thanks this. -
Their marketing budget has to be enormous that they pass that cost right thru to retail shelves. Putting their name on an NFL stadium and sponsoring/owning numberous race teams does not come cheap.
Honestly I feel my Wal-Mart 2 cycle oil for $12 per gallon is doing the samething if not more than anything Lucas sells to put in the fuel that cost alot more money. -
Thanks for the updates on MPG. Only saw posts from 5 or 6 of you though, and I thought 10 or 15 were given out, never saw any posts from the other 5 or 10 guys. That's who I meant by asking for current MPG. Thanks to those of you who replied though. Thought I saw a post once of posting some on a different thread, is that what happened and I missed it?
Dice1 Thanks this. -
windsmith Thanks this. -
I didn't change my driving habits. I still drive the speed limit to 5 mph over it, that's been my habit for years. There's no need to exaggerate and put words in my mouth.ECOTAZ Thanks this. -
