I agree and I see it all the time, trks parked where they're not suppose to.But you know how employers are, they've never drove a trk but tell the drivers to do something illegal because it's not them the bosses that have to worry. So if his manager pays the ticket then I say go for it.So is what i'm really saying is his manager won't pay the ticket and that'll shut him up asking his driver to do something illegal.

Just make sure you are clear with your boss that he is paying all the tickets and fines and any court fees and that he understands it is not legal for you to park in these locations.

For the most part cops are not going to bother you. They completly understand, your just doing your job in the best manner possible. However it is usualy illigal to do these things. And all it takes in one POed cop on a bad day to decide he wants to give you a ticket, and he can. If your cool about it, you might even get him to write it on the company instead of you.

When I was doing Dollar General I was backed in at my 2nd stop of th day in Vinton,La.Went inside to find the manager and a lady checking out asked where my next stop was I told her Starks. She asked if I had a 48 ft.trailer I told her it was a 53.She said I would probably have to park on the road and push it in from there.Got to the store and once I was backed to the door went and found the manager and he asked the same question about the trl. was surprised that I was backed up to the door.W/53 ft.trl.&T660. My front bumper was even w/the road but got it in there.

my distro manager is the type of guy anything you have done hes done with a bigger truck. We have had the conversation about parking its not legal like no thru trucks. When I started this job also my first driving job, he told me it was fine to go down those roads. I got pulled over by a local weight master. He let me go with a firm talking to :biggrin_255:. Basicly was told don't even do it again. When my distro manager found out about me getting pulled over he acted like he never told me to do it. Im very thankful that the officer was not out to nail me to the wall. But I learned a valuable lesson that day. The company could care less about my driving record. I get enough points kick me to the curb and find someone else to do the job. Being the newest driver we have. He seems to think that I need to get the experiance of pulling the longer trailers without giving me the routes that the longer trucks should be in. But so far knock on wood haven't broke anything yet. When I am parking in the road there arent any signs that say no parking. But the side streets are covered in signs forbidding me from going down them. Figured the better option out of the two would be to put on the four ways throw out some triangles and be as fast as possible.

and speaking of the stores telling me to park when im not supposed. Myself and a beer guy enter the parking lot from opposite sides. well he give enough room to sneak around the building but the cars parked on the side street dont give me enough room to get back to the main road. So I figure ill just wait for the beer guy to finish his delivery then back up to get the room I need. Store manager tells me I need to leave his parking lot now. Just drive down the residental streets. "It will be fine trucks do it all the time". That quote seems to be famous last words.

Bet that cop never wrote another ticket like that!, Teaches them early not to even bother with those types of issues, They have better things to do then to be bothering the working man! They can go find a guy with some dope in his pocket and a wad of cash keep part of the cash buy donuts for a week or more and take a few extra coffee breaks...:biggrin_255:

Federal law says you can park anywhere to unload within a reasonable time period and with a few exceptions (you can't block police or fire stations and hospitals etc.). The problem is you may get a ticket anyway, when I did local deliveries I carried a copy of the law with me, it worked almost every time, I only had one problem and I went to court and fought the ticket and won.
