I read all the post here, and Making any remarks on how a person backs in is not right. Everyone of you have many more years to perfect the art of backing. Even myself has had bad days. I watched this young Hispanic man trying to back in one day, I was going home and our spotter, I over heard him yelling at him, I kept walking, then, turned around and went back. I walked over to him, and said, " Get back in your truck", He was not going to do it, I said " Get back in your truck, Lets go". He did, and I helped him put it in Blind sided, He did it, as I guided him in the back. He thanked me. The spotter has over 40 years of driving, and is a superior driver, but his attitude towards this Hispanic man, Pizzed me off. I saw him numerous times after that and told him to practice blind spotting, and he did, and is much better. I watched him numerous times after that, and each time got better. You guys and gals are the future of trucking, Develop a better attitude when observing others in difficult times driving. If someone rejects your offer of help, walk away.

I think all new drivers should run LTL or at least a month of very short runs so they can build the important skill of backing and docking...Rust forms quickly on a lot of new drivers and if they're only hitting 2-3 docks a week, it can take them a long time to build proficiency...

I remember one time when I was new,a driver was watching me trying to back and having a heck of a time.It was a very tight area and not designed for extended cabs.Him watching me made my patience wear very thin.I put it in park walk over to his trk and said instead of sitting there watching me and being lazy would you plz help me and he did.

What gets me is the easy spots to back into. Will have plenty of room but maybe tired....maybe too many eyes....don't know...but will look like a complete idiot trying to get backed in. Then I'll have a spot and think, dam, it's gonna be a pain and then get backed right in without any troubles. lol

I've never had anyone offer to help, just watch. I've had to get out numerous times trying to blind side in a spot at night. Drivers just setting in their trucks watching. But oh well....I'd rather take a few minutes longer by making sure I don't hit anything.

    As long as I don't get frustrated.....lol

my tag says I am new but I started in 1978 moved trailers around fish companies ever since. Some days you just can't get it especially if you dont set up correctly. My male ego got the best of me just yesterday at JBS in Greeley Co 1 open spot for my empty with a light pole in front I paid the shag driver $10.00 to put it in there
He LOL and said he woulda hated to try it with a big truck too. My $10.00 well spent then blocking everything else and struggling.Or hitting sumthin and all that would have entailed. Now the guys that can't back up at walmart distribution centers are another story.

    Why would you love it?

She was actually very arrogant, and bragged about all the other female drivers she had trained. Turns out she had been driving a truck less than a year and thought her #### didn't stink.

Personally I find it culpable that a big company like that would trust a rookie to train.

Could it be there are actually bad female drivers out there? Or, do you defend her solely based on the fact she was a female so she must be beyond reproach? Personally, I have zero problem calling a turd a turd. She was a turd.

Do you own your own truck and trailer? Do you have any idea how much time and money an owner operator losses every time somebody like that tears up our equipment. Last time it happened I lost a months wages.

dollar tree has taught me and my long nosed kenworth a thing or two about tight spaces , but yes the attitude does need to be brought up a bit , your not messing up when backing , your just figuring it out on a years long journey that only ends when you retire ......
