i am not going to read all the posts & replies but if someone wants to have a bunch of traffic on period of un-employed and same person is not willing to pull the DPS record then they have special screws made of 304 Stainless Steel they can get from me ~ called screw-offs [!] I dont need them and wont put up with them.....

Most all companies wants proof and explanation of any gaps in employment. It can be letters from friends or letters from the state employment agency.
I was out of work in 2009-2010 for 8 months due to illness and had to get the gap verified. Usuall two letters from friends will do I didn't have to get them notarized. They actually e-mailed them to the recruiter at my present job.NoBluffBuff Thanks this. -
Make sure to be prepared before you go or you will be sent home. You are going to need 10 years of employment verification, so if you have worked for yourself or under the table make sure to have proof of this with you.
If Swift is the company you choose to go with that is your preference. Everyone has their own wants and needs and if Swift matches these then go with it. You don't need approval from anyone, which you will most likely not get! Stay positive and it will go a long way for you!
Good luck!

Isn't common sense great?

i had to get my accountant to send a letter verifying i was self employed commercial fisherman to prove my 10 year work history. it is not uncommon

It is the feds that require the documentaion, had to jump through a few hoops myself becasue I was self employed for 16 years. That is why you can go to school but not t orientation without it, it is required to be hired to drive but not yo go to school and get a license.

Questions answered and then some....thanks to everyone! (except GasHauler, the least helpful)

the companies want proof you were unemployed because they get a Tax credit from the Fed for a new hire. Why you would need a letter (or two) from friends etc to say that is kinda quirky.....
