I had no luck finding anything local with no experience.

However, I've enjoyed my first three weeks OTR.

B I N G O, great post. Youre boy probably found that job in a local newspaper and went to apply. He got his foot in the door, gained some experience, and moved himself UP in the world with his next job.

I have dang near given up trying to tell the newbs on this board that the big box OTR guys are rarely the answer they are looking for. These newbs pay out the ### for schooling, and then they are nothing more than slaves while they pay the company back for training. And then LOL, they think making a lateral move to another big box OTR company is somehow going to make their lives better. Same policies, same pay, same bs just a different name on the door. It is the blind leading the blind lead around by the stupid.

I got on with upsf and I have no experience just stopped by asked for a job. I got lucky of course they only had 5 drivers and need 7. So don't go otr unless you want to. Stop by the terminals that are close to you and just ask. They might be hiring but have not posted it online yet. They can't do any more than take you out back and beat the s out of you lol

I will be starting truck driver training at an independent school in May.
I was wondering if when I graduate and get my cdl will any trucking companies
hire me as a newbie for a regional or local route?
I probably doubt it but just though I would ask.

I just graduated a trucking school in April. There were 3 national OTR companies that recruited out of my school. One starts you at 25 cpm, another at 32 cpm another at 26 cpm. But right across the street from the school is a company that the only thing they do is move ship containers with day cabs between Reno and Oakland, and the drivers are home every night. They have hired several rookie drivers out of my school when the driver went over in person and applied, and they just happened to have a driver quit or get fired. Other students got hired by construction companies hauling gravel or asphalt, and others got jobs with drillers who drill for the mines around here. The driller jobs are very high paying, all of them. A propane company came into the school begging for drivers, but you would have to have hazmat endorsement, and tanker. All the propane delivery companies in northern Nevada are always hiring, so I think that job is not desirable, because the drivers always quit.
Me, I found a Class A driving job in my own town, that is regional. They manufacture a product here, and I deliver them to all the western states and B.C. and Alberta, and am home every weekend. They started me at 43 cpm! So far so good.

    Hi Nevada,
I am glad you graduated. Nice to hear you were able to get a regional route.
I didn't know that that would even be possible fresh out of school.
I will start checking with local companies just to get my foot in the door.
    Thanks again!
