$1.67 for a short run like that? Are you trying to go broke?

Looks like some garbage load that nobody else wants and they likely always get it covered for cheap. One look at what they have it posted at and you should already know it's a waste of time to even call asking about. I love it when they save me the trouble like that. Unless you're right on top of it and they need it picked up in the next half hour before the shipper closes and you can hear the desperation in their voice.?... But I'm guessing even that's a highly unlikely scenario - wouldn't make any difference - they'd end up just moving the pu/delivery sched out another day so they can continue getting it done for free... Just like with so much other freight out there in loadboard land... Hopefully you got better than $3 mile into PA? I darn sure wouldn't go anywhere up there for less - learned that lesson the hard way..

Logistics Dynamics also has this load from Assonet MA area to Staton Island NY loaded miles are supposed to be approx 250 and dead head was about 46 She said $350. And I reconfirmed to make sure that this is the rate she is offering. Here is the question : It cost me $1.53/ mile to move truck w/authority (251+46=297 *1.53=$454.41 thats my cost and the contract rate shows arround $2.12 /mile). Todays deisel price at $4.25/gal. Is she a real broker ? Would you book this load for her?? Or it is some one who intercepts my phone calls.

$3 a mile is what I call ###k you money. If I don't like the rates in Baltimore,MD I say ###k you and run 160 miles south and pick up a 5000 lb load that pays the same as the 42000 pder going to the same area !! -
I just don't do the east coast anymore. Went up there about 3 months ago following rates. Ended up in RI chasing some short haul freight that was paying good, you can find good paying short hauls there, trouble was I didn't want to stay up there forever working that and nothing going back midwest or to the southeast was over $1.40 a mile. Had a small issue with the truck anyways that had me on edge as it was so finally I said F it and ended up deadheading 1,100 miles home - lesson learned there. Fast forward now have brokers to work with around here, back then I was winging it...
