Just some of the stupid things I see

They make a special paint that blocks radio waves. it's used to combat corporate espionage, and I believe in some federal institutions.

 

As well you should. It seems that most people with a badge forget about the people. They think they are above the law.

I feel your frustration, Scalemaster!

One of the saddest sights I see now at shippers and receivers is a sign that requests no cell phone usage at the window. Courtesy has been replaced by self-centeredness to the nth degree. I have zero patience for it.

As an aisde...got a random level 3 today in PA. Officer was friendly and cordial. And frankly, in my years as a driver, I've never encountered any other type.

 

Most of the time my cell stays in the truck. I don't take it into shippers or receivers, etc except for one receiver who is a PITA! Most times I have to call the shipper while right in front of him just so he will accept the load!

 

any paint that'd create a Faraday Cage effect would work. apparently the special paint you can get is paint then they simply add some sort of aluminum-iron oxide mix. of course, if you have windows signal is still gonna get through, it'll just be very spotty.


side note, there was a big blow up in the comments section of a news site when a movie theater company was talking about using this paint in their theaters to effectively kill the use of cell phones for calls, texting or data during movies. people were not pleased at the idea.

 

Of course there was. It's how all those thieves selling movies in the truck stop record their new releases.

Driver does not understand why I have issues with his choice of placarding.

Placarded 4 sides - "Flammable Gas - class 2"

"Well, they are the right color, and they say flammable! Besides, they were out of the other ones."

 

Any metal built building that is grounded will greatly diminish cell signals. Add a grounded metal skin, no cell signal.

 

we were dealing with RF issues for our scanners at work until recently. 20 foot of metal shelving on both sides of you will apparently screw up the signal pretty good. even though the router things have massive antennas and are hanging in the same aisle way you're in.

movie theater here has low signal when i go there. i think its simply the steel beams in the walls.
