Good point! I've had several where the pilot hole in the wheel was cut oversize that left an 1/8" gap on one side of the hub pilot to the wheel and the opposite side making contact. This will be greatly magnified at the outside of the tire.

ok let me ask this is there a toll that can be used to locat the wheels tog. on the back??? i mean when you install 2 new tires you have to keep moving them to try and get them spot on or you will have a bump ...
-
I'm not sure what you mean by Toll or tog? By on the back, are you meaning the rear of the truck? Or the backside of the wheel? When you move them do you mean rotate the mounting position of the wheel to the hub?
SheepDog Thanks this. -
im sorry typing fast ..when you mount 2 new tire and they slide on the hub and the centering flange by the wheels holes being bigger you have to turn them to get them as close to the same as you can..or you can have a little bump from them not being the same front and back wheels...i hope that makes more sense.....or let me say it this way if you look at the lug holes once the wheels have been put on the hub they are not in the same place you have to move 1 tire back or fourth to match the other hole to get them even as possible...seems like there should be a toll (like a pipe for the rim to slide on until you get some lugs on) to keep things even... maybe i am over thinking it to get it about perfect...
bender Thanks this. -
if your rim is not centering on the hub, you got bigger issues than a vibration.
It needs to be fixed and not mickey moused around and HOPE to get it working.
It becomes a control issue on the truck.SheepDog Thanks this. -
oh it fits my wheels have the washer and the centering dowels i guess you can call them but the lug holds you have to turn just a little to get them inline or the tire will be offset from each other a small amount..i dont have the wheels that the lug pulls them center...the unilug is what i have i think thats what they are called

If the assembly isn't mounting up centered you can run sleeves.

Thanks for the great thread guys!! Good info.
On my 2007 T800, 430k mi., the steering wheel shakes from side to side around 30 mph (IIRC). I'm suspecting either the steering shaft, or u joints; wondering if I'm on the right track?
Thanks in advance! -
if your steering wheel is shaking at 30 mph, drive it in to the next tire shop you can find.
You are feeling a broken belt in the steer tire is what is causing the shimmy and the shake.
The tire could fail at any time.
