I sent my application to ACT. I got a phone call about a job and it sounds pretty good! It pays 40cpm, averaging 2200-2500 miles/week. They review your performance in July and if you meet 80% then you get another 5cpm. I guess their orientation is in KC.
ACT...looking good!

I am just going with the company driver deal for now. I read through a bunch of posts people wrote on this board over the past several weeks (haven't read them all yet but plan to). I read a lot of positive comments from drivers at ACT. If you see a lot of positive posts and very few negative posts for any company, the positive is probably a lot truer macro viewpoint of the company than the few negative posts (and vice versa). The few negative comments might have some truth to them but it might also have more to do with that individual. From what I have read so far, it seems like ACT is one of the better truckload companies out there to work for as a company driver. White with orange must be the great company to work for trailer colors. Two companies I liked working for used those colors, too. They happened to be smaller-medium sized companies like ACT, too. The other two companies I worked for...didn't and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
At this point, I can't commit multiple years to a lease or truck purchase. I will try to read all of the ACT posts and maybe ask some questions if I have any when I finish. Thanks to everyone who shared their experience with the company!

Where is the yard in Chicagoland metro? I will need a place to leave my truck when I return for hometime (and to park my vehicle when I head out). I was at the Love's in Utica earlier. I saw a blue bobtail but he was on his way out. It looked like a pretty nice truck.
