wouldn't want to carry, afraid I might use it. None of you really want to kill someone, BELIEVE ME !!!
a big flashlight, thermos, steak knife.ect, make a good weapon. pull a gun on me and not shoot, I WILL TAKE IT AWAY. have done it, most who brandish one don't pull the trigger. was a bartender in some rather rough places. biker joints, ect.

I learned in the military, you pull a weapon as a last resort. But if I had to it is 8 rounds of 230 grain going down range.

No waving it around or idol B.S.

I don't carry because my papa always told me "if you show it you got to make them hear it." He lived in a ranch.

I was in a bar about 6 years ago, and there was an altercation involving two guys. One of the guys was a regular, so I knew him and talked to him a few times, but I avoided him because he was a #######. But he was always talking about how ###### he was and his gun and the typical BS like that.

Anyway, this guy has an argument with someone. He gets kicked out 'cause he started it. Anyway, about a half hour later a shot goes through the window and hits behind the bar. It missed the bartender by about 3 feet and it missed me by about 6 feet. Turns out the ####### went out to his car and got his gun and got back into it with the other guy as he was leaving. The other guy and his friends jumped him and attempted to disarm him and the gun went off. Luckily, no one was hurt by the gun.

But when I hear people running off about how they need a gun, all I can think of is that idiot. This is the more likely scenario of having a gun than you living out your Dirty Harry fantasy.

Your best defense is your brain. If you think a gun is gonna save you from anything, you are extremely deluded.

When it goes down range, you own it - wherever it happens to end up. I'm of the opinion that a shotgun would be most effective for personal defense. Limited range, easy to 'aim', lots of noise, and lots of stopping power.

Notice, Phoenix Arizona... So yeah I carry (everywhere). I got a CCW in 2001 had it 9 years before my mother or my brother knew. They could not believe I had been around them a thousand times while CCW. I dont carry a gun to scare anyone, I carry as a LAST RESORT, do you wear a seatbelt? Do you attach that seatbelt after the wreck has started? Most unarmed victims of assault regret not having another alternative. I have carried (yes I know before I had a ccw) for 20 years EVERYWHERE and only twice have I had my hand on my gun did not end up pulling it the first time. I was in a McDonalds while it was being robbed. Badguy did not start shooting, if he had I would have shot him.
I was parked in Bakersfield CA 70 degrees out so I had my side windows (379 Pete) open. 3 A.M. I got a blast of starting fluid in my bunk. I yelled "I have a gun and will shoot you" they ran away. Probably saved my life that night.

Please dont assume that everyone who carries a gun is doing it to make up for anatomical shortcomings or because of a mental deficiency, some of us think of them like bike helmets or seatbelts, I never want to need one but if I do, I have it.

I have shipped guns for a major firearms manufacturer, hence "guntoter".

Thanks for the responces everybody. I am glad to hear that you guys are taking the steps you deem nesecary and that you are comfortable with.
I carry everywere the law allows, more importantly I maintain situational awareness even in routine day to day activities.
I consider handguns or firearms in general as tools in my personal safety program. They are the last tool that I would want to employ, the first being avoidance, deescalation or escape.
Anyway thanks for the responces and pointers stay safe.
