Trick to getting miles.....dont complain, dont refuse any loads, run like a dog, stay on the road for over two weeks...also dont cuss through the quallcom.....dont be late for appointments.....keep your 11hourclock..lower then your14......and keep a good attitude...if that doesnt work..sendout resumes.....find another job...because your wasting your time...might not be companys fault, possibly disbatch issues....,or youre work ethic is not up to managements stamdards......bottomline..be PROFESSIONAL........BE Safe

IM WITH YOU ON THIS ONE. I'm with werner now. Drove 26 years ago so they sent me through the 275 hour course. After a few days my trainer said, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN TRAINING? Anyway, still had to stay out. We made the best of it. Got good miles, got to eat, shower, down time ect... Yes, we ran hard and yes we sat at times. This is trucking, not a 9-5 job. My trainer is a good christian guy so that helps. Werner pays me 400.00 week during training and I get all the perks the trainer gets. pay for breakdowns, layover ect.... Have not had problems with werner at all. They even paid me 4 days to sit in a motel in florida while my trainer took his home time. CAN WE SAY BEACH TIME? I guess if you want to be home then stay home and stop complaining that a trucking company does not care about getting you home every week. Stay out three weeks and run, dont complain, do your shags and short runs. The miles will be there. I have not heard of 16 cents a mile, they pay from 26 cents up depending on account, experiance and how long your out. I make 31 cents a mile. Equipment is good. Wish all drivers would do there jobs and check trailers. But, they dont. So, the real professionals will do there job for them and keep rolling. GOD BLESS:biggrin_255:

As far as someone calling in when you pee. GOSH WALLEY, I HAD NO SPIT AND HAD TO PEE TO SEE IF THERE WAS AN AIR LEAK. BETTER SAFE THEN NOT. TRY TELLING SAFETY THAT ONE. ALSO PEE BETWEEN THE TRACTOR AND TRAILER NOT AT THE END OF THE TRAILER SO EVERYONE CAN SEE U. ALSO. LAST WEEK I SEEN A WERNER TRUCK PARKED UNDER THE SIGN "ADULT ENTERTAINMENT". YEP, CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND RIGHT THERE WHERE ALL COULD SEE WAS OUR FELLOW SCHMUCK PARKED RIGHT UNDER THE SIGN AND NEXT TO THE TT BAR THAT SAID THIS. MY TRAINER AND I HAD TO LAUGH. MUSH HAVE BEEN SOME NIGHT, IT WAS 9AM AND HE WAS STILL SITTING. COME ON MAN! And we wonder why other companies harp on us. If we all got together and started holding each other accountable then this company would get better. But, thats just my 16 cents worth.

I think it is ok to inform other drivers of your complaints-but never around a terminal. I have worked in both-office and as a driver. The people in dispatch/service are all like fish in a bowl-they all swim together and know everything about everyone. Word will get around in no time about a driver that complains. It is difficult, but as mentioned above, just do your job and don't say anything to anyone. Never get angry with a dispatcher because it is to no avail and they always win. Just say thank you and thats that. I know how this game is played after 23 years in it. When I'm in a terminal and they ask what I want, I just ask Jerry what do you need me to do, and take it. Then they know you can be depended on and next time I usually get a good load. And always keep the back door open (have another company in mind) and be ready to move on on any day in the event you are fired.

I drove for werner is 2006, 2007, and got a lot of miles. Had to go through the training. Even with all the miles, and I mean I ran a lot, I still didn't make much money. A lot of times, I actually make more in training a week than I did after training. And no, I did not sit a lot. The only good thing I can say about werner, is that they had good trucks. The trailers were pure crap. Good luck to anyone working for werner
