Got backed in this morning at 6:30 and was the first of 4 Calex trucks to get empty. I was on my way back to the terminal at 8am. This was the second load in a row of citrus.
I was given my load info last Wednesday at 7am. I had 3 pickups. I had one in Santa Paula, one in Terra Bella and the final one in Exeter. I left Ontario at 9am and had 113 miles to my first pickup. I made it in 2 hours, backed right in and put 4 pallets on. It then was 145 miles to Terra Bella. I got there in about 3 hours, backed right in and had my 14 pallets on in an hour and a half. It then was 25 miles up to Exeter for my final 2 pallets at the same place that I was at last trip out that kept me there for 27 hours.
I got there at 5pm and immediately went into my sleeper time. I'm glad I did. At 2am I was finally given a door and put my last 2 pallets on. I decided to finish my 10 hours there then left at 5am.
I made it to Gallup Thursday night, then Chandler OK Friday night. After that it was Indianapolis Saturday night then Milton last night. After unloading this morning I called in to Louie and he sent me my reload info to go home with. I have a drop and hook early in the morning with a 2 stopper, Atlanta Thursday then Miami on Friday. I'll be home Thursday evening, leave early Friday morning then stay home until Tuesday.

I do wish I wouldn't have been so quick to throw in the towel on Calex. While I work for an equally good company, I ended up on the night shift and since we're small, most likely won't make it to day shift for quite some time. That being said, even though I'm home daily, I still don't see my wife and family any more then I did when I was on the road as we work opposite shifts.
Oh well, live and learn I guess... -
Calex sounds like a good place to drive for, I guess u have been here for 3 years JohnBoy so it must be ok. I'm starting in 2 weeks. Mort has been great to deal with so far. I'm happy with the fact that I won't have to deal with cheating my logs anymore, that got me into trouble with the last company.

Welcome aboard. Yes it will be 3 years very soon. They are a good company to work for. You will run legal, the elogs make sure you do. Brian and Mort run safety and do a great job. I'm home, finally. It's been a long 20 days but a profitable time for sure. I got my first drop off in Atlanta a day early yesterday. I was short on hours so I only made it to Wildwood last night for my break. Got up early and got home about an hour ago. My last drop is in the morning in Miami then home until Tuesday.

First pick up in Kirkwood NY, then come back down to Pittston to finish out. I have 2 drops in Reno on Monday, they are literally across the street from each other, so close to each other you don't need to close your trailer doors. I'll be done by 8am and starting my reset.
Hey JohnBoy, were those pickups at Penquin Press? I did those 2 pu twice and the 1st time had to take it back to my company yard in Rochester for someone else to take it west. So do u usually get a full weekend when ur home? Do u get paid for deadhead miles too, and is it pratical miles u get paid by?
