From what I could see the head bolts are 12 pointers, so 3406C with mechanical injection.

The only parts that would have needed to be changed to make that C model from a PEEC to a Mechanical would have been the Pump the Advance on it was still internal in the Pump. All PEEC did was allow the Fleets to set up what the top end could be and allowed Cruise Control. My dad drove one in the early 90's.

One more question for you guys, is the 3406c a wet sleeve or a dry sleeve setup?

The C is actually a better motor than the B. It came with a better turbo and it has bigger main bearings. The naysayers like the B because the C has centrifical timing adjustments that make it fall on it's face @1800 RPM (for emmissions). Hence the forementioned "cone" cover on the lower driver side front. -
Main bearings are no different between any of the 3406 series and C15/16/18 engines. I think what you meant to say was wider rod bearings.
Also the timing advances work in the same principle between both, and accomplish the same action, just the later ones rely on oil to do the advancing and return of weight carrier. The timing did become more and more retarded as the newer engines came out to meet emmissions. These engines respond well to some pump mods and advancing the timing a little.
ZX, the liners are wet, they have o-rings that seal them to the block.Last edited: May 2, 2012

I had this problem on my last semi. I sold it and moved on. Always had to re-order parts every time it went into a shop, it was a headache i was very glad to get rid of.
