I pulled a coal bucket up that way for 2 years before moving south-Board Trucking out of Ashtabula who was leased to Butler out of Niagra Falls.

I have been the route as a teacher. I am 58, and today if you don't go to the dinners, parties, wear your tie crooked, and hair spiked-you don't fit in. Also, "students need someone who can connect with them" I was told. So, they kindly made it difficult on me and said I was not a team player when I stayed home and studied and prepared lessons, and did not flirt with the women. I hate these kind of people who think the generation before them is of no use. It seems the same may be applied across the board in all professions. As for trucking, I will be returning to it in June 2012, and have seen the change in drivers-not that they are not good, but pushed around and paid little by some of the large carriers. From my reading on here, it seems companies seek driving school candidates, run them throught there school for a govrn't kickback, and pay them peanuts to pull freight not caring if they stay or go. The whole system of trucking seems to be turning into a 9-5 job with the new HOS and get me home on the weekend. I will see how it goes in a few weeks when I start hunting for a company. By the way-does anyone know how Ozark out of Memphis is to work for? Heartland out of Kentucky, or West Global Inc?

 

Glad I'm an owner operator. Don't have to worry about losing my job because I p1$$ed off my dispatcher....

 

so what is the name of the great company that mike works for? maybe some of us would like to try to work there instead?

To the USA TRUCKLINE guy the turth is if i must fear writing bad things about the company good or bad and my name.number truck then were all in trouble. If there going to fire me over that they suck bad becuase the companies havent realized the back bone is me the driver good or bad they should fix there probelm not pass it on to the next 90 day driver. Thanks Big Fist.

 

i never liked the idea of having to do things the way someone else wants. I like to have the freedom to do my own thing, my own way.

Now its getting to the point where no one will hire me, for whatever reason, so I say F it, I'm just gonna start my own business.
