Here's the deal
I have been driving a truck as an owner operator, since 1972,and now I can't get a job. I have no tickets or accidents on my licence.Never had an accident in 40 yrs of driving. Have awards from trucking companies for safe driving. But because i received a warning in the state of Illinois for a marker light out, one strap on my whole load that had a cut in it, a high beam headlight out, and one tire that was less than2/32nds iI have beed blackballed for getting another truck driving job. I have 110 CSA points on my license. And am considered an unsafe driver. Someone please explain how this is fair. How long are we going to sit back and take this from the DOT. Who is willing to stand up and say enough is enough. Can't go to ANY of the trucking associations cause there all are scared of loosing their precious lobbing positions, with the government, which by the way is the only reason they exist, their not for drivers.
Bye the way all these major trucking companies are in the same position I am. Whats going to happen when they have to start firing numerous drivers every month, because of little infractions, that really have nothing to do with safety.
CSA put me out of buisness

if you are an O/O, do you have your own authority? or you lease on?
Something just doesn't make sense to me.....
How does all that add up to 110 points? -
I'll go out on a limb and say there is more to this story. 4 items on an inspection and 110 CSA points isn't going to stop anyone from hiring you. It's not like they inherit your points.
windsmith, Mommas_money_maker, Onetruckpony and 1 other person Thank this. -
So a marker light (10points), headlight (15 points) and a cut..but working strap...I'm guessing...15 points?
add up to 40 points. Then triple...120....you're unhireable and most companies won't let you lease on either.
Next year, they're double... then the third year are face value. -
Sorry Meltom there is no more to the story , I lease my truck to a company, and this was not tickets just a warning, and all infractions were fixed on the spot except for the tire. and it was a highbeam headlite, the headlight worked.

What kind of companies are you applying too, if you have 1 inspection with 4 items on it why would anyone not hire you? It makes almost no sense. The company I'm at we see people coming thru with several pages on their PSP. If companies are expecting perfection they'll never achieve it. I have to believe something else is preventing you from being hired.

What happened to the job that you got these points at? -
So you're still working or did the carrier terminate you? Or fearful that future prospects won't hire because of the points?
I had similar concerns as you with some points picked up like that. Turns out it's nothing to get excited about if it happens to be one-in-a-row. The trouble comes when you get one of those inspections on a regular basis.
The carrier profile shows the scores and where they land in the curve. The linked site also lets you drill down into details to see why a score is what it is. I know there's ways to get the driver score, but that's something I haven't looked into.
At least with the link you can look up your carrier and see how your recent rubber glove inspection fits in with the rest of your company's fleet. -
Melton every company i have ever worked for would hire me again, Im not here to argue with you. my driving record has no accidents in 40 years of driving. and no tickets in the last 5 years. I respectfully resent your Quote. I will put my trucking experience and safety awards up against yours any day of the week. the company i was leased to was forced to let me go.

head light is 6 points
clearance 2 points
cut strap 10 points.
Tire 8 points
Total of 26 points at face value.
First year would be at most 78 points.
Obviously all those safety awards don't mean squat if you are out of work over one incident.
