Has anybody taken apart a 04 or newer VNL headlight? Mine is turning yellow on the inside, I've been able to keep the outside clean but now the inside is giving me grief.:biggrin_25524:

I'd bet that there is also dirt in there, to go along with the yellowing. Seems to get in there somehow and really cuts down on the light output.

Current truck had this problem and didn't put out enough light to run down the road without the foglights on (which I never run otherwise). At that point, I was actually using the light from the fogs more than the headlights. Got bad enough that I actually refused to move the truck one dark morning when I woke up with a fog light burned out.

From what I understand and was told by several mechanics, you can not take them apart. Only thing to do is replace them.

In my mind, these lights on a Volvo are now along the lines of a maintenance item that just need replacing about every 5 years.

I did. Plastic lence is secured with glue, I used scalpel to cut it out.

On european Version 2 trucks they use glass with clips, so easy to brake.... but no yellowing

A guy on an rv site said he took his apart but didn't say how. I guess I'll just verify the dealer has one and try to take it apart and if she breaks....

its one unit (part), if goes bad the whole thing needs to be replaced, sure would be nice if the lens was removable without breaking it, good luck!

I have a friend who has an 2006 Volvo 760 with an D12 that came from Canada, He has been to the volvo dealer twice to get parameters change on the low beams and on the fog lights with no luck.

Try to get the HID'S to work, Only one of the lights in question would light and an error would show up in the display.

can you send me the parameters that needs to be change for the low beams and fog lights.

I don't think the dealer know how to change the right parameters, all I can get out of them, is, they rase it from 100 to 500 ?

I though it had to so some thing with the high beams parameters also?

    any help would be great.:biggrin_25514:

I found the problem, that some parameters will not be available with US software, so with some ballasts LCM reads low beam fault code
