nothing wrong with good retreads (they'll give you plenty of miles)... checking air pressure is part of our job, so make it a habit.
-
they'll give you plenty of miles. but nothing compared to virgins.
you'll spend more money on retreads popping then virgins going the same amount of miles.
retreads are very very very tough to make last. although i'm thinking of going that route due to the fact that a store next to our yard will sell them for $110. i need tires but the money is a little on the low side. truck needs to start making money again instead of spending it. -
In full disclosure, all my casings started as new tires, that I purchased and ran out. -
i have had my casings recaped for over 20 years, never had any problems, as a matter of fact I would cap my drives and put them on the trailer and then cap them a second time and run them out then usually give them away this was on Kelley tires with an oliver cap and I hauled steel with some lets say big loads up into the six figure range but I only run 57 to 58 mph unless i am going down hill which sometimes would be two inches past 80 mph

As so many others have posted Start with GOOD casings ( preferreably yours ) get QUALITY tire shop to do the work ( not BUBBAS Tire & Bait Shop) , KEEP the CORRECT tire pressure and check them ( Caps or Virgin ) for damage , blemishes , seperation not wait until something happens.

well aren't you just the lucky one.
no matter what company or truck i drive or trailer i haul. i'm lucky to make em last through the summertime. everyone of the tires will be replaced before winter time.
goin on a full year with not one problem on virgin tires. retreads are too much of a risk. and too expensive considering they LOVE to blow out in the open land. they never blow when at home. i'm only considering becuase of the price of $110. $500 for virgins times 8 is a little tough to swallow right about now.
