If your company allows you to do that they'll run into an issue. Any time you log out it's going to record your miles. Any driving time that occurs while you are logged out should populate a miles without hours report. If you company chooses to let this slide it's going to be a matter of time until it bites them in the ahhh, well somewhere anyways.
Can you cheat an eLog?

the other day, I was at a place loading. I'll call him "super trucker" ANywho....
ST came in about 1 1/2 hours after me and got finished at the same time. He was kind enough to tell me he was just pulling in from Georgia. I was out of hours, he was running a couple logs and left. I left the next morning after my reset. About 3 hours down the road I pull in for break and there ST is. Passed out on the steering wheel and going to the same place I was.
I arrived on time for my delivery and when I was finished unloading, ST still had not shown up for his appointment which was at the same time as mine.
So much for running them 2-3 logbooks. Did enough of that 18-20 years ago. I am NOT going to get wrapped into that game again this time. It's what ran me out of this business before. Running from the midwest to San Diego and back to Ohio and home in 9 days. No thanks. -

If the rest of the year continues as my first quarter did, then I will break $200K in revenue easily. My last year fuel cost was substantially lower than your example above, I had no cost for base plates, permits, etc... only FHUT for $550. My total equipment operating insurance costs for the year were $1415 for everything. I funded a tax sheltered Health Savings Account for an additional $6250, my total privately acquired Blue Cross / Blue Shield medical insurance (family - $5 million coverage) for the year was $4592, my total cost for the year for OccAcc was $1632. So far.... how am I stacking up against your example?
Oh... and my truck is paid off, no credit card debt, all personal vehicles paid off, 2005 New Holland ag tractor/loader paid for in cash, I have a 80x60 pole barn with enclosed shop already paid for, and I am sitting on 40 acres (paid for). Only liability is mortgage on my house and a co-sign on an auto loan for my step daughter.
And while using an EOBR, by the house a minimum of once during the week, home every weekend/holiday, and two weeks vacation! I am being hamstrung sooo much. Life is just not fair.Last edited: May 13, 2012

What is it any of your business how I operate my truck? I see you guys ripping on "super truckers" all of the time for running paper logs, how is it any concern of yours? It's my truck, my license, my job, so why does it concern you if I want to sleep all day, or drive for 20 hours straight?
