I sent this PM to MACK E-6 today, but then thought that possibly psting it as a thread as well might also help....I really need anyone that may be able to help respond please....

"I've been driving dump trucks for about 10 of my 15 years in trucking, and last year my bro in law helped me get my Class A. I then quit my job with Jerry Preston, to run a tractor/dump trailer for a guy I knew that used to work for Jerry, handle 'Stubby', who had a small company with 6 tri axles, and 4 dump trailers. I drove the one pictured in my photos. The company's name was Midnight Run.

Well, to make a long story short, I knew things were a little tight for him over the summer, but was always assured that he was lining thing up to keep busy, and even talked with some of the other trailer drivers to confirm that they had heard the same things...As the summer started to come to a close there were some rumors that he was going to downsize due to maintenance issues, and that he was looking at maybe getting rid of a couple of the tri axles.

When I drove up to his house yesterday, as I always did on the weekends to turn in my paperwork, and get my marching orders for the upcoming week. When I got there I went inside like normal and gave my paperwork to Jen, (Stub's other half, and office mgr.) and Stub was there as well, in a quiet mood. After give the paperwork to her, Stub says to me "J-mac we have kind of a problem" I said ok, what's that? Then he says to me. "We've been bleeding money, and I have to downsize, another truck is taking your trailer, and we have to let you go."

Well, I couldn't believe my ears. No warning? No heads up? Just like that? As you can imagine I wasn't all too happy. But as a trucker I know the game. He is going under, and I was the first causality. Anyway, that brings me to my actual question...

I live in Bel Air MD, not too far from your posted home base of Balto. And if there is any thing that you know of that I should take a look at for a job, you could save me...

    My creds are as follows....

    Class A experience.

Midnight Run Exp. for 10 months running an '06 Pete 379 with a C-15 Cat motor, and a 13 sp. Trans. Hauling a 42 Ft. Alumitech dump trailer as pictured as I said in my photos.

    Class B experience as follows.....

Jerry Preston Hauling Inc. for 5 years, running a Pete triaxle dump, with a C-13 Cat motor, and an 8 sp trans.

    before that

Price Trucking Inc. for 4 years, running a KW W900 Triaxle dump truck with a Cummins 550 motor, and an 18 sp trans.

Before that I had several smaller Class B trucks, I guess most notable was working for Pepsi Cola of Havre de Grace doing route delivery for 5 years. Side loader truck, but the ability to work with loading dock personnel may help.

Anyway, I have driven commercially for some 15 years, but only have 10 months driving a Tractor Trailer, and have actually had the license for a year now. I don't want to go back to driving a Triaxle if I can help it, although I am pretty sure I could move back to JP tomorrow. Is there any Class A jobs that you know of in the local area looking to hire now, and give someone like me a chance?

Sorry this is so long, but I should add I am 45 yrs old, drug free, and clean driving record, other than some overweights.....

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks...

    j-mac"

Anyway, that is my delema....Anyone, someone HELP! I live like most truckers paycheck to paycheck, and can hardly afford a break in work right now......Thanks everyone....

Good luck and you should find some thing fairly quickly. Even if you have to do OTR for the winter until you can land another construction job.

Thanks, and I know I could go back to Jerry Preston tomorrow if I wanted, and be driving a Triaxle by next Monday. I'd really like to break into freight Tractor/Trailer though....Aggregate seems to be slumping lately, and alot of companies may be on shaky ground for the next couple of years.....

I should add that I am open to some regional work if I need to, but I don't want to do OTR at this point in my life..Too much time away, ya know....

Anyway, thanks for the support Brick.....

File for unenjoyment tomorrow mornin. Hopefully that'll hold you thru until you get a check coming. I do not envy you and can sympathize because I very easily could have been hunting a job after wrecking the truck last week.
