Well a couple weeks ago the engine developed a small oil leak at the front cover. I requested to have it fixed and the answer I got was. "Truck is traded".

Well just recently, we lost 4 drivers along with another putting in his 2 week notice. Rumer has it that there was a call to Peterbilt on the truck also.

Boss is running an add in all the papers looking for drivers but not getting any bites. Seems that he has burned through most of the drivers in the Northern Red River Valley.

But I did leave a complete and respectful written notice for the main Boss/Owner last week.

I told him that I will be moving on when the truck goes down the road and that during the big shut down this summer, I will be using the time to work on a different carreer path rather then hooking to a belly dump.

I just have to do what is best for ME right now. What is best for me is doing something that keeps me smiling. This battle that I am been going through for 30 + years is takings it toll on me so being happy is extremely important right now.

I wonder if the pencil pushers took anything into consideration other than the MPG smoke the dealer blew up their butts when they ordered trucks. I bet losing a good driver(s) due to bad equipment purchases and replacing them with steering wheel holders who don't take care of equipment wasn't figured into the cost of ownership numbers. Funny how people don't realize a bad driver can/will cost you more than ANY truck. Good luck with your new venture!

Was in the office/shop today, heard a rumor from three different guys that I am getting a long hood instead of a short plastic hood.

But then I also heard that the top is coming off my trailer and getting replaced with a tarp temporarily. Don't like that idea because it means some camping coming up running from Washington or Idaho back to Jamestown ND or Grand Forks ND.

I hope that the second is not true because I had been hoping for some serious down time this summer to get caught up on stuff and wrack up some miles on the scooter.

Rat, try not to take this as offensive, but you just need to go buy your own truck and join the ranks of double O's. It just seems as thou you are the tail always trying to wag the dog, IF the company actually has gone out and bought the "truck of your dreams" after all of this I would think it was time for you to give them a break and just do what is asked for a while.

It's either that or you really just don't want to work there any longer and are looking for any excuse you can come up with to be left go, at least that is the way it comes across on here.

    JMHO.

Just got back from the office. Had a little sit down with the boss. He asked me what I want and want to do. I voiced my opinions on the 386s and the prostars that that I would just rather keep driving this one. I also said that it is not up to me as far as what they want to buy.

The he said "Fine" I will keep this truck, just don't whine and cry if it breaks down and I miss a load because of it. This don't really worry me because the truck has spent less then 1/10 the time in the shop due to break downs as the 2010 and 2011 trucks that have been purchased. And I have been in this truck for 4+ years.

So the truck will be coming home for a full all out polish and shine job again. I was holding off because I was not going to spend the time on a truck that is going away.

Final word as he walked out of the office, "it is settled, your keeping the truck".

So I am not going anywere and I have a smile on my face now.

Glad to hear that brother!!! I hope the best. It seems he finally realized he'd rather keep a valuable employee rather than lose one because of a truck.

    Glad it worked out.

Yeap, I am glad too. I might have a change of heart in a couple more years when this truck tops a million+ miles but I just really like this truck.

I really hate change of any sort. It is a mental thing which is driven by my 30 years of severe depression.

Funny thing that he said though, he said he was not buying any new 379s/389s for hauling spuds. But I know for a fact that another driver got to sit down and help order a fully decked out W900L which should be here in a month or so.
