    Perpetual,

It seems like Roehl does mostly midwest/northeast and shorter runs? They are on my short list but reading through a bunch of threads in the Roehl section and this one makes me wonder if I would make money there? I would be doing either van or reefer but it is a bit concerning.

Flatbed does a lot of Midwest. Van and reefer typically go more places. We haul a lot of steel. Even so, I run Midwest regional and I do a lot of "short" runs 350-500 miles, but I deliver a load almost daily. So they add up pretty quick.

Thanks Treefork. My main concern was all the posts I saw about sitting over the weekends and waiting 9 hours for a new load etc. That may be a flatbed thing since flatbed freight is slow over weekends?

I will tell you that I really like everything else I have read about the company and am really considering RDTC

Most flatbed shippers and receivers are closed on the weekends. There are gong to be times when you sit a long time, you can have that anywhere though.

If you are just starting out driving, it a good place to go.
You really don't want 1000 miles runs till you get your feet wet.
They also seem more interested in keeping new drivers than the other big companies.
Your not going to make a lot of money your first year anyway.

    Scape07 and Perpetual Thank this.

Took a chance they would load me early and it paid off. Arrived at 13:00 and was loaded by 14:00. Out the gate at 15:45. Made it to the Gary terminal right at midnight with an hour left on my drive clock.

I guess some big NATO meeting or something is happening in Chicago this weekend. Hopefully I can avoid the mess.

Delivered the aluminum coils to the intermodal place without a hitch. Arrived 11:00 no traffic problems. Empty by noon. Preplan received ahead of time. 2 miles from previous destination to the steel tubing place. Load going to 3 stops in North Carolina on Monday for about 900 weekend miles.

Plenty of time on the clock since I didn't start my work day until 10:00, so even if (when) I hit rush hour traffic I should still make it out of the city and find a good place to park, whether back to Gary or further along the route.
