Troll please go elsewhere if you have nothing constructive to say.

I just finished up my CDL training and am waiting on a truck to take me out of this motel and onto phase 1 training. From what I gather from the upgrades staying with me, phase 1 lasts about 3 weeks, but it really depends on how long it takes for the truck to travel 14,000 miles. The school will say its your drive miles that make up that 14k but it really isn't, its truck miles.
After phase 1 you return to a school (not always the same as the one you went to for your CDL) for a 2 day road evaluation and upgrade course. After that there is, as I've observed, a week or so wait for the phase 2 trainer.
Phase 2 consists of team driving for 12,000 miles. There are no tests during phase 2, just driving. Again, this is truck miles so it shouldn't take long for you to go 12k miles.

If you do come to Texas, which is where I did my CDL, try to avoid the American motel. Shoot for the executive, comfort, or the Ramada. Less bugs and such in those 3.

Wish him luck, the course and company aren't as bad as some on this site would lead you to believe. I came in with the mindset of "It is what I make it" so far that's worked for me.

In b4 "Corona36 is a recruiter". I'm not, just an honest person trying to get things done and help others along the way.

    slmr85 Thanks this.

Ive said it before and I will say it again, there is good money to be made in this business. That said it will take a year or two or three before really good money will be made. After two years of good driving, with no preventables, you can go about anywhere. While at England, he will bring home about 350 a week during phz 1, a little more during phz 2. After that it depends, a lot of solo lease drivers make very little, company drivers will bring home between 400-700 wk after taxes. Hope that helps. Lease drivers that know what they are doing, and train or team can make very good money, but I warn, it will take a while to get to the good money.

Troll? The guy is a Roadtrain! Made me laugh!

I don' t think we was criticizing, just havin fun.

I do agree with you Corona in that it is what you make it. Bashing other companies, especially the top 5 mega's is just a trucker thing! Kind of like making fun of the kid that wears kmart clothes! Every individual is different and has their own wants and needs and if England suits you than so be it. You may have a long lasting wonderful career with them.

The only thing that matters is if you personally are happy and content and are making the amount of money that you determine you need.

Browny is 100% correct! There is money to be made you just have to know what you are doing and be a good hustler!

As far as your training miles go, 14,000 can be done in a little less than two weeks. However, you guys are new and are training not necessarily teaming. Ideally it is going to be more like 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. Which is typical training time. Take your time, use this training time to your advantage and learn all you can. Its going to go by so fast! Driving team, especially when you are running hard, is like a time machine. You would think the opposite, being stuck in a moving closet together for 24/7! If for any reason during that time you feel you are not being trained properly or just don't get along with your trainer then make sure to let dispatch know. Switching trainers is not that big of a deal and happens quite often, so don't be afraid to speak up!

    Good luck!

Overall just getting used to using the clutch was my hardest thing. And not on driving, just in low on the backing range. I've never driven stick before so it did mess me up quite a bit. I wouldn't say I've mastered it yet but greatly improved definitely. Best advise I got was literally " &@%& the brake, come off it first then come off the clutch".

As far as the fact that I'm still sitting goes my class had an above average number of refresher students and students that had let their CDLs expire so they took a lot of the trainers before I was able to jump on a truck.

Word is I should be on a truck sometime between now and Monday. Fingers crossed.

I'm almost certain england is promising BIG $$... do you think a person would come for $400/wk after training??

    I don't think so.

i just hate when some of these co's lie & take advantage of someone who's attempting to try a new career to support their family and get taken for a ride.

HONESTY DOES GO A LONG WAY!
