Started loading at 18:30, 3.5 hrs after appt time. Made it to Gary terminal at 21:15. So I missed all the Chicago traffic after all :)

Both times I have been to the steel tubing place the loading didn't start until well after the appt time. Apparently that's normal for them.

For the Chicago location on a Friday yeah. If you ever get to the facilities in PA, expect MUCH faster load times. :)

    Perpetual Thanks this.

At the big Tamarack service area off I-64/77 near Beckley, WV. Drove about 570 miles today, so a very easy day tomorrow to set up for the Monday morning delivery.

Stopped at a Flying J for fuel and a shower in Fort Chiswell, VA this morning and then on to Rural Hall, NC. Very tight parking lot for about 8-10 trucks at a Kangaroo/Marathon; well-positioned for the ~15 minute run to tomorrow's first stop in Winston-Salem, followed by Raleigh, then final stop in Kinston.

Perpetual, I was just wondering if you knew if Roehl had a pet policy or not, and if they do, what are the rules for having a pet in the truck with you?

No pets in company trucks. If your an owner operator then you can have a pet.

Time to get caught up on some photos. Here is the steel plate I picked up near Philadelphia that went to the Detroit area.

Here are the tarped bins/tubs will small steel rods & discs that were loaded near Detroit and taken to East Peoria, IL:

Here is a steel coil that I picked up as a relay in Gary, IN and delivered to Murphreesboro, TN:

Today went smoothly; all three stops in North Carolina were met with easy conditions and nice people. I find it really helps to call the receiver beforehand, to confirm the delivery time, make sure directions are correct, and most importantly establish a rapport with the customer. By the time you arrive they sometimes act like an old friend just showed up.

Here is the final stop in Kinston, NC:

Tomorrow I get a load of what I think will be particle or chip board from a place in South Carolina going to Indiana.

Now at a Flying J off I-95 just south of the NC border in Latta/Dillon, SC.

I go out with my local trainer tomorrow for flatbed. I got through securement training and can't wait. I'm excited to go from van to flats
