Stuff happens, slow weeks, equipment repair, weather, illness, home emergencies, etc. Get thru the year, then see how much you have made. It just might be $50k. Luck to ya'. BTW, it's what you make at the end of the year that matters. So many guys quit after a bad week or two needlessly.

Hitman hit the it,you just started that company, how do you know you'll make 55 k the first yr.How do you know that company won't shorten many of your checks. You may get one good week of driving but how do you know every week is going to be consistant miles. That's nice you like your company but come back in a month and let us know if you're still very happy and content with them.So tell me,how much are they paying you per mile?I did'nt see anything about the pay on your first post.

I get paid truck percentage too. It can be nice for short runs. However another negative way of looking at it is, how long and far do you drive empty? I've driven almost 300 miles to get loaded. Over the last 3 weeks, I would haul a load 165 miles, then bounce back to get loaded at the same place. I done this twice a day. So that's 330 miles driven, for free, several hours. Percentage is paid to drivers to benefit the company, not the driver. I'm not complaining, as I was fully aware of this going in. There's times that I can be home every night, or only out a couple nights a week. However we're always home on the weekends. So as a newbie driver, how lucky is that to get hired by a company like this???

Paywise, I might make a little over $40k my first year. I've now been driving for 6 months. The pay fluctuates a lot. Sometimes I get good paying loads, but also some real crap paying loads in the same week. It just depends on what's available.

Nope, it doesn't. I might be close if we get a lot of short hauls that paid well. However the higher paying loads do so because they are hauled further. There's been numerous times that my pay, which is a percentage of what the truck is paid, has been no more than $50 for hauling the load.
