Hey you started with the OVERLORD reference! -
Replies to the NHTSA Request For Comments on Speed Limiters in '06 should have been funny . Over 3,000 supporting comments were pure ignorance . Why ? Road Safe America sent out thousands of faxes and e-mails directing "supporters " to the response link bypassing the actual Request For Comments . Some comments simply said "yes " "please " or showed ignorance by saying "Please pass this bill " and "I support this legislation " . But "supporting " comments far outnumbered the opposing comments . Now FMCSA and NHTSA are beginning the process to mandate speed limiters because of all the positive comments .
This will be yet another loss by OOIDA because OOIDA members think paying their dues is doing their part . If half the OOIDA members posted opposing comments the opposing comments would have far outnumbered the supporting ones .
Don't be crying loudly when hit with more regulation after sitting in silence when you were asked to comment .Tazz Thanks this. -
I sent mine in about both topics and contacted Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Who ever would listen.
Tazz your absolutely RIGHT whatever FMCSA decides to do is exactly what we should do. I'm sorry I thought that i had the right to voice my opinion about anything.
EVERYBODY knows that the FMCSA gets divine instruction and that they would NEVER DO ANYTHING but what is best for everyone.
Y'all are both right OOIDA members are just STUPID its a horrible thing to TRY AND change anything we have such a great group of guys in charge! They have made trucking so safe and run so smoothly lately.
I mean those new hours of service wow that was perfect it was like they read the truckers minds and REALLY listened.
I'm just a humbled, irrogrant, simpleton and never should have thought that given my intellect that i had the right to voice my fellings and thoughts.
Actually if y'all will just look at how many people say thanks for your comments you'll soon realize, I mean I see you already know it, YOUR THE ONLY ONES PEOPLE AGREE WITH.
Tazz thank you so much for giving me a chance to answer a question.
The answer is the Department of Transportation .........maybe, the name kinda says it all. I do realize the simplicity of this however.
But to do it like makes sense to our government it should be DOT, FMCSA, and then if we just had a branch for every little aspect of trucking I'm sure it would be much better!
We could have/should have 22-27 dopifferent departments under the FMCSA, plus about 12-17 departments within EACH STATE!
If we did this I estimate within 3-4 years we could have at least 324,783 NEW LAWS AND REGS then we would know everything we need to know about how to not only to drive but ....
What are heartrate should be
How many steps to make while walking to the rear of the truck,
Maybe spots CLEARLY marked on the trucks to place our hands while performing a pretrip
The exact hue of every cab and trailer so is saves energy by reflecting heat. But not so much that it bothers butterflies or bugs view,
Down to the ounce for proper window cleaner amounts.
A law that says #2 pencil only or that we can use a fine point black(flat black of course) pen on Tuesdays
Then a blue ball point medium point pen between 12 am- 6 am TWICE A WEEK ONLY.
Make all of us leave the truck stops at 6am, but that red reefers with odd numbered MC numbers pull out first, followed by the even numbered reefers if they had between 41-42k in trailer the the blue reefers would be next but just the odd numbers with loads between 31-37k then the white reefers with odd numbers with 36-39 k,,,,,,, every reefer with a lighter load would last SINCE THEY ARE THE FASTEST, but only if they have auto shifts followed by manuals.
The flatbed would next and every would now have to switch to BLUE straps because California has done a study that says the yellow ones cause cancer and they are afraid drives are chewing and licking them. But Arkansas still approves them so you can use them in Arkansas between sundown and sunrise AGAIN because of the glare thing.
Now with the flatbeds leaving the truck stop they will need to add thethe LAST THREE NUMBERS of their DOT, NOT MC NUMBERS after adding these numbers up they MUST compare numbers , but only after they have come up with the primes for their truck. The highest prime numbered trucks leave first, but only if they have black trailers if they have red trailers then they arein the last group and have to DIVIDE their MC numbers and who ever has the LOWEST number leaves first........etc
Insomuchas this might be confusing the 254 departments that now ALL REGULATE trucking have provided a free download of the rules and regs, it only takes 12 hours to down load but DONT WORRY THEY READ IT AFTER THEY PASSED IT, it can be down loaded between Monday and Wednesday from 12am -7:16pm for states that begin with M, states that begin with S ARE ALLOWED to download between wednasday at 7:18 pm and Friday at noon. ALL other states must download during the free time slots BUT they must add the number of letters in the name of their state and come up with the odd and even numbers. They will then have 3 years to come up with a system for down loading ONLY IF THE OTHER STATES AND THE FEDS AND VOTED THREE TIMES THAT THE SAID SYSTEM IS OK BY THEM.
Of course we must wait to hold REAL public "listening sessions" to decide it people are allowed to wear blue or black suits to vote. If nothing can be decided between ourselves we MUST wait to see what the CITIZENs FOR PUBLIC SAFEFTY GROUPS HAVE SAID THEY WILL NOT SUE FOR, to be fair EACH DEPARTMENT must have no less than 15 of these groups per member of voting member to make sure the system is FAIR.
There is no way Maryland decides that the 67,000 current laws and regs even comes close to covering everything, AND SINCE NOW EVERYBODY HAS TO VOTE AND AGREE, so they post another 1,234,789 laws for the summer and 2,652,789 laws for the winter ALL PARTIES AGREE THAT EACH GROUP WILL NEED 27 MORE MENMBER TO HELP STRUCTURE THE NEW LAWS, GIVEN THAT THEY ARE ALL STATE JOBS
EACH NEW STAFFER WILL NEED $157,000 a year.
All in all this new system will end costing a mere $7,898,768,564.00 and each party agrees that so it is passed within 15 minutes, a full 324 days faster than it took to come up with the new color/hue of FED/STATE road signs.
This way in total, for the first year, because these departments need at least 56 new members / staffers a year, the new systems keeps just under 13% of the population employed!
ONE DARN DEPARTMENT TAZZ ONE! THATS MY ANSWER
This was the simple, cliff notes edition of course!
TAZZ given his OMNIPOTENT INTELLIGENCE should replace Ray the Hood, Obama will need to replace a cabinet member with TAZZ and provide a room at the white house. Since TAZZ will go from company driver to this position him and Obama will have a lot in common.
Both having superior intelligence than the rest of the world will SHARE a Nobel Peace Prize soon following this Tazz will take over trucking for the entire globe.
TAZZ really man I'm just poking at cha. This system makes every but as much sense as the crap above and is filled with the same insulting jargon!
It needs to be simplified and allow independent business owner to run a business not WADE THROUGH 67,000 laws and regs to deliver freight, allow companies to profit and not look at this profit as something THEY DESERVE.
You jealousy shine like a lighthouse and just because you don't own a company don't hate on those who do. Why should they have to play by YOUR rules after all they have more invested than a CB, some sheets, and a tee shirt with a big arrow at the bottom that reads look at the dummy driver, or I'm with stupid and an arrow as you stand next to them in line to pay for fuel.
I don't have all the answers but passing 1000's of new laws and oppressing the small business owner so hard that they leave the industry is not the answer.
I want to learn about this business from guys intelligent enough to and BRAVE enough to do it on their own the day we are left to learn from drivers who were so good that the BIG COMPANIES taught them how to listen to that Qual com and to obey that eobr and then after TWO WEEKS START TO TRAIN ANOTHER DRIVER is a sad day.
This is what IS HAPPENING we are losing to good ol boys and left with anal trained drones, people who like all these new rules which is scary.
Yes some of the younger guys may like it who knows have you noticed some of the other things this generation approves ofrevelation1911 and Winchester Magnum Thank this. -
This is my last comment sorry for all the typos I was having too much fun. One department is all we need. All rules should be in English, drivers should have to pass a literacy test again in English, DOT and 1/2 large company owner and 1/2 single to five truck owners should come up with the laws along with DOT officials who have SERVED drivers for more than 20 years.
The system is way too large and many if the laws are based on false data EVERYBODY knows this just like the speed limiters its clear that vehicles traveling different speeds causes problems.....and the public hates it so why do it....money Tazz money.
Laws and regs should be clear and make sense not be made because activists sued someone. This is all getting out of control.
If that doesn't work then sure Tazz you have my vote to make all the rules as you have proven to be fair listen to both sides and never close you mind to revelant data......beside all the good truckers will be gone and we will be left with "yessa boss" guys and it won't matter because they will love every law created , be glad to drive a truck they do not own, enjoy being spied on and appericate the fact that they never are forced to think, sound good.
Now lighten man, lets be friends, we both have taken this too far you make fun of other drivers and I poke at you about yours.
I heard the whistle blow after your next time at bat game over ......bet it as it may! -
Ever hear of it? It's called the Supreme Court. -
Well more bilge. Shocking.
It is very simple despite the inane rant.
Tell me how many agencies can you name responsible for regulating Interstate Commercial Motor Vehicles. Now in the interest of stopping the next pointless fantasy I'll answer for you. One. Very simply one, all rules and regulations come through the FMCSA. So delusional fantasies of ever expanding agencies and pointless talking points derived from insipid political radio show aside I'll hazard the question again.
Actually no I will not. Personally I would wager your capacity for an answer has been reached. Hence the bilge.
All your stories of being a Beta Group are as your last answer great for pontificating, lousy for substance.
Lets examine a few regulations to check your premise they are instituting laws on us first to use again the general population.
The Hours of service were first enacted by the ICC in 1938 so I am sure they have since passed an Hours odf Service for civilian vehicles yes? Actually no they have not nor should they.
I am sure the Texting and Hands free laws will be usede as a test correct. Except the FMCSA is over a decade behind several states whom saw this danger in all vehicles and had already passed their own law. Guess we are not the Beta Group there either.
Well I suppose the physical requirements could be construed as a ......... Oh wait not enforced on civilians either.
Well I am sure they have no speed limits for ...................Oh wait
Ok Ok suspensions only occur to operators of...................... Nah not true either now is it.
All the petulance aside there have been exactly two brand new rules introduced those being texting and hands free to accommodate new technologies, there has been a new system for tracking of inspections introduced. The information was already there it is simply a new system to rate it because again technology has advanced to the point of allowing it.
The changes in HOS were brought about because a lawsuit started by your beloved OOIDA, The ATA, Public Citizen, TCA, . Primarily alot of definitions changed and a change to restarts. These were changed based off public comments made as the subject of this thread was and a number of listening sessions. Oh I forgot the change brought about by drivers. See the over whelming comment heard from drivers be they O/O or company is "We can not take a break because we waste to much time on docks" . This begs the question why they are wasting that time instead of being compensated for it but I digress. So now since a break was not possible before you are now given one by regulation. Congratulations your voice was heard. However as mentioned above the HOS have basically existed for 75 +/-years so hardly new.
There will now be a directory of medical providers.
That sums up the changes enacted in recent memory
Hardly the
And finally I'll address your other twice implied piece of bull squeeze. Never not once have you ever read anything where I delineated between any size company be it 100,000 trucks or one. Your argument that somehow I am jealous is quite simply ignorant on that basis alone. I know it is en vogue to martyr yourselves and play some misunderstood souls. Sorry all rule's do and should apply to every commercial vehicle. You get no special dispensation for your martyrdom from me.
The second fact disproving your flawed theory is the latest debate fueled by ignorance of the regulations was with two employed company drivers. Those being Rat and Shredfit sorry to burst your flawed little bubble.
Further if you understood I chose to do this because it meets the minimum I need to interact with what is left of this experiment, truly understood that very simple fact, you would see the ignorance of that premise. -
