Gotta just say I think there is more going on here that we are being told. I doubt any damage at all that you could not notice and a video camera did notice is grounds for dismissal from a bottom feeder. They had to be out to get you for something else.

    Just guessin.

You will get a job at another though I wouldnt sweat it.

If they sent you home your most likely not fired.

What they've done to other drivers is send them home with no pay, safety will review everything and make the decision. Usually after a few days. Its either you'll come back, get a different truck and continue or they will fire you and you just go from there.

Bottom line is you are responsible. You do a proper pre trip you would have found it. Its in roehls policies. The way you describe it is if you were working for me and this happened I would think you were trying to cover a mistake you made.

If you woulda done a pre trip, you could took a pic of the damage, emailed it to breakdown and all would be done.

They havn't fired you yet right? If they do, go to Williston and get a job hauling frac water or sand. You'll make some real money [10 times the money you make now]. Try craigslist , North ND. where they are crying for truck drivers.

Had a very similar situation in my first year. I told safety I would like to see the last shop inspection, and all the pretrip since then. The whole thing got dropped and its not on my DAC
It's a freaking training company. They have lots of damaged trailers.

If they are going to accuse me of something I didn't do, I am going to defend myself.

The thing that sticks out as far as I'm concerned, is that the OP has screwed up no matter which way it happened. He either did not see the damage during his pre-trip, or he was involved in an accident he did not know about. Pretty hard to explain either way. And this of course, is taking the position that he is being honest with his statements.

He does say he is a new driver. His best bet here is to learn from this mistake, whichever way it was, and get on with his life.

There is a third option. The driver hasn't said how he's confirmed that the video showing the damage when he checked in actually exists. If Roehl is just taking someone's word on that I would be asking to see it. I've seen what some yard jockeys do and I wouldn't put it past some places to try and cover it up by saying they have video showing the damage was there at check in.

Panther is an EZ qualify company and they're hurting for Class A drivers. The app process takes an hr at most...

If you mean, Panther Expedited, I wouldn't recommend my worst night mare of an enemy to ever go there.

Plain fact is he didn't look at the trailer when he dropped it..maybe even when he picked it up.

Some where between picking it up and pulling in the yard you hit something and missed the damage..small things can be damaged and you can miss them.

As you aren't saying what the damage was we can only guess as to what it may have been,if it was caught on CCTV..then it was something that could've reached out and grabbed you..if you had done a post-trip inspection.

As for your career, nope not over..you may not get a favorable driving job but someone will hire you.

Learn from your mistake and move foward..we ALL have something we wish we hadn't done.
