We had one customer that would ship a lot with us. Fedex went over and said if you use us we will do it for free for a while and they stopped using all the carriers and used Fedex for everything. Then they went into a ton of debt and started to charge a lot for freight and the shipper went back to us and other carriers. Some companies will try to close everyone down, hence why is theres an ex-employee for a company they take them in a second.

Not sure what you do at your old job... care to explain? Out of every job Ive had(even non-trucking companies) this has been the easiest going of them all and probly one of the best. Although Im a city driver it may be different. All you got to do is impress the management, and shop stewrads and they end up working with you. My first few weeks were extremely hectic, and crazy I was like what did I get into. But after doing everything I was told it got a lot better. The dispatcher knows I like going out in the 40footer trailers(Everything at CWF was a pup and I wanted more exp with a 40') so when I would get back in the straight truck if i went out in it he would save a pickup for me. Whatever tractor Ive gotten and drove and came back to get a diff trailer, if I didnt like thre truck, all I would do is ask for a diff one and they would either tell me go pic one out of take this one. Now I got a kinda perm truck which has its quirks but every truck will have them, but at least im used to this one now

Technically, kickbacks are against the law, BUT, it's a worthless law because everyone does it.

Is your tractor in the shop ST?

Didnt know that... Although YRC probly loved me this week and the other LTL's hate me lol. We had a meeting about the whole one more shipment, and since I went to places where Im really cool with the shippers all week I would have them give us the other companies shipments. Some will do it just because they like the driver. I have one guy who always askes what do I want moved before he loads, another guy even redid my trailer because he told me it was safer for me(he did it on his own I didnt ask him).

Yea ST's truck is in shop, he told me he had a few breakdowns this week... looks like its missing a tire on there, and a volvo... do you like it better than the cascadia? I like my international I usually have, although the volvo is a nicer ride(newer)

Squonk did you read my post in your thread? Theres some stuff you should look at. If you did then nvm lol

I sure did & I thank you guys for the tips. I think the only thing I'm gonna buy before my virgin departure is one of those duffel bags on wheels. I should know after my 1st month what I want to buy & a portable radio will probably be #1 on my list. And a laptop. I need to Google to see what type of radio/stereo ST is referring to.

The story behind the truck is as follows. A team that broke-down last week in Phoenix had to get this rental unit from Penske and drove it back to Chicago. Since my partner and I are heading to Phoenix now we are taking it back to Penske and will bring back the truck that the other team left there to be repaired. It still has two axles on the drive but they remove the outer wheels so that it doesn't hang up on the landing gear. I'll take a pic of what that looks like tomorrow and put on here. This is literally the nicest truck I've ever driven. It has all the bells and whistles you will ever want. It even has a USB port on the dashboard to hook your computer or in my case, my iPad and iPhone.
