One of our city day cabs with an empty 53' dry van was jack-knifed by strong winds on the highway last winter. The driver was OK, and the damage wasnt major, but it can happen so quickly!
-
Besides, Ray Barone gets called that all the time by his wife, and they seem happy. -
Let's see... Doofus, idiot, ding-bat, dumbie....
Yeah, I guess in a way it is a term of endearment, it's just a very truthful one! -
At least you are ok. -
Im sorry 2c this, it happens 2 the best... glad u got out ok..
Your rig was clean and nice.. U will pul out of it.. again.. -
I just now saw this thread. Sorry it happened but as everyone else has said, glad you are OK.
I hit the barrow ditch and took out a lengthy section of fence line last winter on some ice, with a high wind. Did not roll, just by the grace of the man upstairs. Runing a single screw daycab with a pup on. Empty.
I ALWAYS wear my seat belt, but I probably didn't need to have it on that day. I was GLUED to the seat, if you know what I mean.:disgust: -
Hey Brickman hope this doesn't open a can of worms best left sealed but..
As a soon to be driver I have started looking at the truck paper, just trying to get a feel for prices etc., having been self employed for many years the O/O or L/O sounds good. Don't worry, I know I need a minimum of a years driving and learning before I make any decisions of that nature. What does suprise me a little is the great differences in prices for similar year and mileage trucks. Now I know everyone has thier favorites, but that KW you were looking at said 807,000 miles, and still was going for $36000. Is this really because of how they are built, ie longevity, or more just popularity.( By the way I also love the look of the KW's and Pete 379's). The Freightliners at school seem pretty cheap, lots of plastic etc., and pretty worn out, with less miles than that KW. I realize that they were probably co. trucks and therefore not necessarilly taken care of. Just trying to learn! -
KW, Pete, do have reputations for longevity, but it all depends on how they were taken care. You could take a Freightliner and take real good care of it, and it'll last longer than a KW run into the ground. I still don't want a FLD truck!
I'm KW partial because thats what I've drove the most.
If you want sticker shock price a KW W9 and a KW T6. Same yr, same engine, same miles pretty much speced the same as you can get them. (you can do really detailed searches at www.truckpaper.com). You'll find the T6 on average will run an EASY $20,000 more than the W9. And thats thanks to the fact the T6 gets better MPGs. -
Speaking of bad days, I wrecked my Harley Sunday night, thanks to the exploding deer population. This was my third deer-related accident in 5 years.
I was on a two lane, and I saw the deer appear. I started slowing down, and moved toward the left of the lane. Next thing I knew, me and the misses were on the ground, on our right side, facing the other way.
We're thankful we both walked away from that.
The deer died, and hopefully it was a slow, painful death. The #### things are nothing but a menace.
