Communication is becoming a bigger problem lately, they are so busy trying to fix late loads due to lack of planning they have no time to do the job correctly.

I would like to effect some changes, ie communication pre plans, But those concerns from drivers are not being addressed.

The problems begin with the CSR and planning with everyone having to scramble to fix the mistakes.

Is it just me, or has things gone a bit more haywire since the reintroduction of dumb and dumberer?

 

Has nothing to do with D & D Dujo, it is losing good people and replacing them with friends and family.

 

The timing is about the same time as dumb and dumber. But the problems started before that. But the situation is not improving but getting worse. The. DMs are no longer managers they are repowers, that is all they have time for. The ones that are causing the problems are not the ones who have to deal with and fix the problem. It is going to take a strong manegement team to fix the problems.

Anytime the fifedoms are allowed to be as strong as they are at stevens, the kingdom starts to shrink and splinter. There is no communication between fifedoms.

Anytime a person is removed from dealing with the consequences of their decisions the quality of those decisions decrease.

 

Can a driver get away with this individually, or is help needed from someone in Dallas?

 

The only way a load can be taken from you is if you are either running late and or have no way to deliver it on time.

A driver himself can not "take" a load from anyone. It can only be taken by a DM/Load planner and given to another driver.

 

This exact thing happened to me at Dakota City the first week they hired O/O. I forget the year, seems like around 2000.
He came into the cafe at the Texaco T/S and saw me wearing a Stevens shirt. Sat down and wanted to know how thing's ran here at the company. We dicsussed loads and talked for several hours.
The next morning, i wake up and he is parked next to me with the trailer assigned to my load. I see him coming out of the cafe with his coffee and confront him. He says, "Call Dispatch, they will let you know whats going on".
Well, called in and they tell me he's been on the phone #####in about how long he has been sittin there, 3=4 hours, and needs a load that is ready then. Needless to say, they placated him by giving him my load, since it showed it was loaded.
Sadly for him, when i called to check on his load, it was ready. He got my 3 drop NYC, i got his 1 stop So. Portland , ME.
Be carefull when you call in to ##### about your load.

 

That run to S. Portland, ME was my load home when I was with Stevens. I'll bet, if they're the same way they were back then, it was one of the few grocery houses that actually work to get you done as soon as they can. Hannaford Brothers.

I saw them once every few months on my way back to the house up in Bangor, ME.
