I am very worried, I am either over-qualified for the jobs that most high school and college kids get or under-qualified for anything else. I unfortunately have bills that require a salary to the job I was laid off from and am ineligible for unemployment so the walls are caving in. I applied to Millis and was expecting to hear something in a few days but didn't.

So I went down to the school and was pre-qualified because my background and motor vehicle report is in good shape. Almost a week later on a Monday a woman named Alice called and said she received my application and is going to do an employment check. I told her I was unemployed and she said she was checking my employment history. I said okay but I was pre-qualified down at the school. She said she still needed to run my employment and to call back on Thursday.

This process is moving slow and am worried that their selection process might be really tough. I see myself defaulting on my bills soon so I hope something positive happens quickly. I hope your job shapes up Mspinner or Millis works out for you. I know Millis is the company I want to work for. Sorry about my post being negative but the glimmer of hope seems to be fading. :biggrin_2551:

Do they send a DOT long form in the mail to you? Or do you have to get one yourself?

I assume you have to get one yourself, which is what some other posters have said. Also need the CDL permit too. DOT Physical is a breeze. I think it cost me under $100 and you get the Medical Certificate card with the 3 page long form. If you don't have the physical any clinic or occupational clinic can do it for you. As far as the permit, just use this site and take the practice CDL tests everyday till you have some sense of it. Go to BMV or DMV (some states call it), take the test and bring your DOT card and you get your CDL permit.

Yeah I am trying to get as much progress from her without pissing her off. I had to send in my W2 from my previous employers. Sent it by email and will call her again later to confirm she got it. The next step is my info goes to the director and he will decide whether I get in or not. I am hanging on by threads and hopefully I get a yes. Even if I do get accepted I will have to take a lien out on my car that is paid off for some money to pay bills while in training. Trying to keep my head up though.

    Thanks for the support Mspinner!
