their website doesn't say anything other than they do hire o/o's & u have to call for more info; i know a majority of co.'s kind of relax on the o/o requirements cause they know if they don't get u they don't get the truck leased on; but i'm sure there are some who don't bend on those rules

Whoooo!!! Man, their killin me. I have run my back side off! I had a very long detention at a customer in Kengucky, that messed me out of a weekend at home and a reset. Instead, I had a 10 hr break at home as I drove by the house. Hey thats trucking. Im cool with that. Whats tough is Im running recap hours now. I gotta say though, they're keeping me busy. A big difference between flatbed and van, when a van bumps a dock its breaktime. When we arrive, its time to go to work. I was at a saw mill in Georgia, throwing straps and tarping the load. I look up and theres a TMC truck sitting just over from me, engine running, a/c going. Im in Savannah sweating like no tomorrow. The turd didnt even get out of his truck, he just left. I dont expect anybody to help me secure and tarp, but...... you can at least check on the guy to see of everythings ok. Im just saying. We have to watch each others back out here. Congrats Jeff on goin solo.

Let's recap. Got my truck Monday but spent all freaking day at the training yard going over the trucks securement inventory. Did not eat all day long. No one even asked if we needed the van or anything. Rough day and it was Hot. So I want to take a shower...water only comes out scolding hot! Enough about all that. I finally get all paperwork done and at 1:30pm given my first load. Now the FM and me both agreed that some short runs would be nice to get feet wet. Not what happened. A two stop load that ends in New Hampshire. I am sitting at first consignee because I was late and it comes off in the morning. Load came in late, I never hauled electrical wire on the spools. Just a nightmare so far but I still am glad I am driving. I have a lot to learn. At least it pays the truck what they like to make in the week lol. Cha Ching!

Im in Savannah sweating like no tomorrow.

And it ain't even June yet .
Agree 100 % on keeping an eye out , Ga. heat don't long to start working on a man ( or woman ) ,
and you can cut that time in half for those that spend a lot of time in the A.C.
This might be a good time to brush up on symptoms of heat stroke & add " fill water cooler " to your daily checklist.

Be safe and take care of yourself out there.

Yeah Jeff, the day you get your release is tough!! It was a looong day for me as well. No food, no drink, at least I did get a shower. Celebrated my truck with a Big Mac value meal! Yum!!
And yes, my first run was a killer. Sent me deep into west By God Virginia. I figured the drive time very wrong. It threw me off the whole week. I swear, I think they do it on purpose. And speaking of a/c, mine doesnt work AT ALL!!!! I've complained to my fm, gonna send me to Gaston to get it fixed. I was at the Peterbilt shop in Nashville, Tn. I was told all a/c work is done at the shop. Ok, whatever, as long as its fixed. Now the killer part of this story...... they have giving me a load the delivers in my home town!! Literally within walking distance to my house. I understand they are trying to work me while in route to Gaston, but really?? My home town?? I dont even get to take my 10. Off load and head on!! Really?? So instead of a long holiday weekend, I wouldnt be suprised if I dont make it home AGAIN this weekend.
As for the summer heat, again, I dont expect ANYBODY to come and help tarping, but I do think the decent thing to do is to at least check on your fellow driver. Think about it, your off the property securing and tarping, fall over from heat exhaustion, or something, how long would it be before somebody noticed?? Just something to think about. Jeff, you got your truck in Gaston, right? Hows the terminal? I have never been there. I guess I have to wash my truck before I get there, because I have nothing else to do. Anywho, enough complaining from me. Its somebody else's turn for awhile. Hey guys, lets be safe out there.
