Living at the Crosslands is never going to be mistaken for living in luxury, but then again this isn't meant to be a vacation. Between all the time spent at the yard, DPS and spent studying, there is not a lot of time left for lamenting the lack of amenities.

There is one gripe I do have... Would it be too much to ask to have a vending machine on premises?

I was on Med hold for a couple of days due to a high BP issue on the physical, I have been subsequently cleared, but as a result spend quite a bit of time sitting and waiting in the clinic and that gave me an opportunity to speak directly with a few of the drivers that are here in the yard. Most of them stated they have been driving anywhere from 3 to 10 years and while they all had gripes, (Mainly directed at the Clinic and its "use") not one of them said I should be running the other way, or I am crazy for wanting to work here or any similar negative type comments. On the contrary they were to a man quite positive and encouraging.

If any of you are reading this, thank you.

I am almost through my first week, two more to go.

How can you be on hold for a couple of days due to high BP ? If it's not under 140/90 you get a 3 month card and get meds to correct it. The meds take more than a couple of days to correct . Sounds like a pretty shady operation to me .

    Prima Donnas?

Perhaps if more companies hired people who care about cleanliness and personal hygene there would be a few less P bottles littering the roads and our reputation with the general public would be better.

So, you are fine sleeping on bedding that a stranger slept on and did no telling what on? Guess that washclothes and towels that are dirty from the previous guest are ok too?

I dont need to stay in the Hilton, but I expect things to be clean. Guess im a prima dona...

On site clinic, on site Doctor... they gave me meds for a couple of days to make sure they would have the desired effect. It did lower my BP below the 140/90 threshold, so I got a script.

Stevens has higher standards than the DOT requirement. It has to be 140/90 or better or they will not let you go.

It has nothing to do with personal hygiene, it has to do with whining about not staying in 'the best' hotels available, not having Starbucks coffee available, not being served gourmet meals, etc, etc If you are used to all that, then why 'lower' yourself to be a truck driver??

I did my 3 weeks at the Crosslands, my linens were fresh when I arrived and were changed according to posted schedule. I picked up CLEAN towels, etc from the desk daily. I have also stayed at the Crosslands a few times while on the yard, same story. Same thing at the AmBest. On the other hand, my hubby and I have stayed at a Comfort Inn, paying nearly $100 per night, which had hair and soap streaks on the shower wall and trash behind the night stand!!

Did you ask to have your room cleaned again or for your room to be changed?? All the people I dealt with at the hotel were extremely friendly ans accomodating, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

4+ years ago the AmBest smelled of mold. The carpets were frayed and worn out... My room mate was sent home on day 2, failed pee in the cup test, and on day 4 I left with my trainer... total time I spent at the worn out hotel, less than 30 hours. Was it clean, no, and I did have to go to the front desk to get clean towels the second night...
