I think that people that know me know I am strongly agains't any drug that impares driving. But this so call accident blame of pot is just inflated and wrong. It gets back to what I said before there is no test that can tell someone smoke an hour ago or a day ago. Marijuana only effects your judgement for a few hours tops but stays in your system for a month. There was a girl in Las Vegas that fell asleep at the wheel and killed 6 kids that were doing their civic punishment along the road. She had pot in her system but she and others claim it was from days before. I believe their are many reports like this that distort the truth. So the "Reefer Madness" continues.

Took me all of 30 seconds to find this one in which 16 died and marijuana use was cited as a cause.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_Maryland_train_collision
After that you can head over the NTSB website where you will find no shortage of fatal aircraft accidents and parachute accidents where the cause was directly attributed to marijuana use.
Marijuana use and abuse kills people. To believe otherwise is to bury your head in the sand. -
I don't do pot........but yes, it kills people the same way alcohol kills, prescription pills kill, stress kills, looking in the mirror and putting on makeup while driving kills, robbing banks kills, losing somebody's life savings kills.......hundreds of scenarios kill people.......again, I don't do pot, never did!.............but I understand what you're saying! -
Negative, negative, and negative...... I don't care what report you read that some guy that will die to get all pot off the streats writes. POT does not kill people like alcohol, meth, crack, coke or any other drug does. Pot makes the majority that use it docile, laid back and somewhat paranoid, not to the point of long coke use does though. Like driving while high on weed, the user tends to feel like they are going faster than they are. To get in a fist fight while high would be funny but if the user was just coming off a high, that wouldn't surprise me. Yes, there are deaths that have accured where weed was the only substance found on the person but that doesn't in ANY way tell me that it was the POT that caused that person to kill some one...ROTFLMAO at that. A car crash, yes,,,very posable. If I guy smokes a fatty and right after wards, grabs his 45 and goes to McD's and shoots everyone to get a big mac,,,,LOL... ok, I'll buy that....LMAO

It looks like some are still missing the point on marijuana and killing people. I agree that the impairment while driving has caused some deaths but it would be completely ignorant to say every accident where people were tested positive caused the deaths. It's easy to understand if you leave the reefer madness mentality out of the picture. Lets compare it to alcohol. Say that alcohol stayed in your system for 30 days and they had no way to test to see when you took your last drink. You get into an accident and you're charged with DUI because the alcohol was still in your system from a month ago. You know you are completely sober but no you are guilty. I'm all for testing while driving but to me it seems a little unfair to be charged with something someone did a month ago. Until they have a test that can tell it's very unfair to accuse anyone of being impaired while driving when the test can not tell.
Just because someone tested positive for marijuana does not mean they are impaired. It's that simple. Find a test where they can tell the last time the drug was taken then I would believe the statistics on the drug and deaths. And for that train wreck I was there in the area when that happened. The cause was from both of the enengineer and the other guy watching the super bowl on a TV they brought into the cab. They did not see the red stop light and blew right on through it. They even had witnesses that saw a TV fly out of the cab of the train. The guys that tested positive was reported that they were smokers but they had no way of proving they smoked that day. That newpaper article, like most, is wrong.bigdipper Thanks this. -
I made a mistake. The trian crew was watching the playoffs and not the super bowl. They even said they were watching the Giants play.

The thing is there are far more cigarette smokers than there are habitual pots smokers. And among both, there are probably far more who will freely admit to researchers to being habitual cigarette smokers than habitual pot smokers. So I don't believe there are nearly as many credible studies on pot smokers as there are on cigarettes. But lets face it, smoke is smoke and carcinogens are carcinogens. I don't think its much of stretch to say that if you smoke enough of either, its probably not going to do your health any favors.
But my main point remains the same. One simply cannot make the claim that pot smoking 'has never caused a single death' without being either incredibly ignorant or an out and out liar. -

Just look at the facts. Marijuana can impair your judgement just as any other drug can, including alcohol. You cannot smoke marijuana and drive a truck. If smoking dope is more important than earning a good living then go smoke dope and get mellow. If you want to drive a truck for a living then give up smoking dope. You can't do both. It isn't a matter of IF you get caught, but WHEN. It does stay in your system for several weeks or months. The choice seems simple to me. If you like smoking dope and want to drive then work to change the laws. Since it stays in your system for an extended period of time I think that it may still be a no no even if it were legal due to testing proceedures.

Judging from some of the posts, I am not so sure. If these people can't give up marijuana for a career, then it is a problem.
